Year 5-10 Semester 1 Report Cards

Well done to all students for completing Semester 1. On Friday afternoon this week, Semester 1 Report Cards for Years 5-10 will be released in the Parent Orbit App. These reports contain important information on achievement, learning behaviours, position in the cohort as well as pastoral, instrumental, and boarding feedback. As usual, an email will be sent to parents when reports are made live on Friday afternoon.

In addition to report cards, assessment task feedback for all subjects is also available on the Parent Orbit App. This is targeted feedback provided by each teacher on the strengths and weaknesses of each summative task submitted. Please take time to discuss this feedback with your son.

Year 10 Subject selection and SET plans for Year 11, 2027

Students have received their web-preference instructions in selecting their subjects for Year 11 and should now be completed.

SET Plan Interviews will take place from Wednesday 24 June to Friday 26 June (Term 2) and Monday 13 July & Tuesday 14 July* (Term 3). Bookings are now closed.

These interviews provide an opportunity to discuss students’ future pathways and subject selections for Year 11 and 12. Both students and a parent/carer are required to attend.

*Bookings for Tuesday 14 July were not bookable via the booking system therefore you will not receive a reminder.  A reminder will be sent out in the 2nd week of the school holidays.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email curriculum@marash.qld.edu.au.

External Exam Block

The 2026 External Assessment (EA) Exam Block has been released by QCAA

QCAA external assessment timetable 2026

Good preparation starts now. Our advice to Year 12s at the moment (with Internal assessments remaining) is to focus on those things in their control: their sleep and diet, balance of study, work and extra-curriculars, as well as beginning to compile their study notes (particular for Maths and Science subjects). Every extra effort made in Internal Assessment now will also help to reduce the pressure on the Externals.

Request for Leave – Unapproved Leave Over Assessment Periods

Please be advised that if leave is not approved for missed assessments (including assignments and exams), a summative mark of NA will appear on your son’s End of Semester Report for the relevant subject. In accordance with the College Examination Policy (available via the Parent Portal) and QCAA guidelines, events such as holidays, weddings, or family reunions are not considered unavoidable and will result in an NA for the missed assessment.

Students will still be required to complete the assessment upon their return to school; however, no assessments will be scheduled earlier.

While students will receive formative feedback on the completed assessment, the result will not contribute to their summative grade due to the following reasons:

  • Reporting deadlines cannot be met
  • Academic integrity must be preserved
  • Teacher and staff workload during marking and reporting periods
  • The validity of assessment results within the designated timelines

Please note that this does not apply to leave that has been granted for approved reasons (Illness, etc.) as per QCAA policies.
