National Tree Planting Day

Ocean Grove Primary School was buzzing with excitement as students came together to celebrate National Tree Planting Day.

Throughout the day, classes helped plant more than 100 native plants around our school grounds, creating new habitats for local wildlife and making our school an even greener place to learn and play. Students worked enthusiastically alongside staff and parent volunteers, learning about the importance of caring for our environment and how trees help our planet.

At lunchtime, the excitement continued in the school garden, where students planted over 100 basil seeds in our new greenhouse. These seedlings will be cared for over the coming weeks before students take them home to grow in their own gardens.

Students also enjoyed taking part in a sustainability scavenger hunt, exploring our school to discover the many environmental initiatives we have in place, including composting, water-saving features, biodiversity areas and recycling stations.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers, Barwon Water for their generous donation of native plants, and to all of our students and staff who embraced the day with such enthusiasm. It was fantastic to see our school community working together to make a positive difference for our environment.
