Ministry

At our final chapel and Senior Years Assembly this week at Endeavour College, we were reminded of two powerful Christmas truths.

First, from Matthew’s account of Jesus’ birth, we saw an ordinary young couple, Mary and Joseph, faced with extraordinary news.

There was plenty of room for fear, confusion and worry – yet they chose trust.

They believed that God was with them, Immanuel, even when the path ahead wasn’t clear. Their small “yes” to God became part of the biggest story of hope the world has ever known.

Second, from Luke 19, we heard Jesus’ parable of the servants entrusted with their master’s money. Each was given something valuable and asked to put it to work. Some took courage, took a risk, and saw an incredible return. One hid what he’d been given and missed the opportunity.

This year at Endeavour, we’ve seen students, staff and families do something with what they’ve been given – gifts of learning, leadership, service, creativity, compassion and faith. Not every effort wins an award, but every act of courage, kindness and perseverance matters.

Christmas invites us to bring these two pictures together: a God who comes close in Jesus, and a God who entrusts us with gifts to be used for others. As you celebrate this season, may your homes be filled with peace and laughter, may you cherish your families, and may you have the courage to put your God-given gifts to work.

Jesus has invested everything in you.

This Christmas, may you know you are deeply loved, and never alone.
