News and Information from Primary

Cross Country Day

Our Cross Country Day was a wonderful celebration of participation, colour and community. Students from Kinder through to Year 6 competed in events ranging from 200m to 2.4km, with courses set across the Don Oval and weaving through the school grounds.

Even though this was a race, the highlight of the day was the strong sense of encouragement, with students cheering on one another throughout each of the events. It was fantastic to see all students involved and supporting each other. We were also grateful for the many parents, family members, and friends who came along to cheer on our students and contribute to the positive atmosphere.

Andy Griffiths Presentation

Year 3/4 students had the exciting opportunity last Friday to attend a live presentation by renowned Australian children’s author Andy Griffiths at the paranaple centre in Devonport. The session brought together students from across the region to hear from one of Australia’s most loved storytellers, with Andy sharing insights into his writing, creativity, and the inspiration behind his popular books. The engaging and lively presentation provided a memorable experience for our students and a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading and storytelling. Below are two reports from our students:

Charlotte B (3/4 Dance): We went to the paranaple centre to watch Andy Griffiths on Friday 22nd of May. There were lots of schools there to see him. He was very funny, we had to do a test about which type of adventure we would take. Andy is an Australian author who writes funny books.

Lily G (3/4 de Wilzem): Andy was very funny. He showed us a picture of a butt treehouse. He gave us an adventure licence that lets us drive the bus back to school with. He told us that reading can give us laser eyes too.

After School AFL Program

After School AFL Program

We are excited to let families know about the upcoming after‑school Auskick and Superkick programs on Fridays from 5th June between 3-4pm, designed to be fun, inclusive, and perfect for students of all abilities.

Auskick is a program for children aged 4-6 and is an introduction to Australian Rules Football, teaching skills through fun activities and mini games.

Superkick is a program for children aged 7-12 wanting to get a feel for footy without the pressure.  Superkick is the next step up from Auskick and provides the opportunity for students to continue to develop their skills in a fun and tackle free environment.

This 6‑week program by AFL will run after school on the school oval, giving students a great opportunity to build skills, make friends, and enjoy being active in a safe and supportive environment.

Please be aware that, while this program will take place on school premises, it is run independently by AFL Play. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's participation and safety with AFL Play.
