Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 8! We hope you managed to enjoy the weekend with family and friends. With the weather now getting cooler, please ensure your child is dressed in the full winter school uniform as the long weekend was our official changeover from our summer school uniform. While some children do not seem too bothered by the cold weather, it is important that they wear their school jumpers/jackets to avoid the chill as much as possible. Please ensure that these items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name.
Athletics Carnival
Despite the less-than-ideal weather, we had an absolutely wonderful day at our Sports Carnival last week! Well done to all of the students, teachers, families, and helpers who came together to make the day so special. We witnessed inspiring sportsmanship, incredible efforts and a fantastic community spirit. To top it all off, we even managed to have 12 school records broken!
Many thanks to:
Mrs Kellow for her tireless hard work organising and running the event, and to Mr Paterson for his generous support with the planning.
Our amazing St Joey's staff for their invaluable assistance throughout the day.
The wonderful McCarthy students who volunteered their time. Their efforts were very much appreciated!
Adam Jolliffe from Little Athletics for his wonderful support and expertise.
Our clever photographer, Mrs Vile, for taking such amazing photographs!
Thank you everyone for making it a day to remember!
Please see the Athletics Carnival Results page in this newsletter for all the amazing results from the day. Congratulations to Joseph House for winning the highest points score.
P&F Thank You
We would like to extend our sincere Thank You to our wonderful P&F for their generous support of our school. Through their fundraising efforts and the ongoing support of parents at school events throughout the year, the P&F continues to provide valuable resources and opportunities that enrich the learning experiences of our students.
Thanks to their fundraising, the P&F have purchased a new boom box complete with microphones for our school. This fantastic resource will be a valuable addition to many events, such as the Book Week Parade, Grandparents Day, assemblies, and other special occasions. The improved sound system will help ensure these events are even more enjoyable for everyone.
The P&F has also funded a beautiful new yarning mat, which has already been greatly appreciated by our Aboriginal Education Assistant, Miss Taggart. The yarning mat creates a lovely space for students to gather, share stories, learn and connect. While it will be a valuable resource for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, it is also a space that all students can enjoy as we continue to foster inclusion, respect and understanding across our school community.
We are also excited to announce that the P&F are kindly funding an author visit next year. Cameron Stelzer will be visiting our school in Term 2 2027, and will work with all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 through engaging and interactive sessions. This wonderful opportunity will allow students to hear firsthand about the journey of becoming an author, gain insight into the writing process, and be inspired to develop their own creativity and love of storytelling. We know our students will greatly benefit from this exciting experience.
Thank you again to our P&F for their ongoing generosity and commitment to enriching learning experiences for all students.
May God bless you and your family.
