Funeral Arrangements and Support for the Castlemans

After speaking with Samuel early this week, Annie and Zelda’s father, he wanted to pass on the funeral details for Karlie to the wider Scotsburn community. The service will take place next Wednesday 4th November, at the Buninyong Town Hall, at 11am.

With a large contingent of the Scotsburn staff attending, along with members of the school community, we have arranged for students to be at the Buninyong campus on this day (Wednesday November 4). We will communicate more specific arrangements for this day on Compass, prior to the end of this week.

Samuel also wanted to pass on his thank you and gratitude for all the offers of support he has received from our school community. The family is feeling very loved and supported during this difficult time. A coordinated approach to how we can support the family is something that we would love to help facilitate, as both a campus and community.

If you would like to be involved in supporting Samuel, Annie, Zelda and their wider family, please contact Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@educatiuon.vic.gov.au.

Grade 5/6 Sovereign Hill Excursion - This Thursday and Friday

A few reminders below for our Grade 5/6 Sovereign Hill Costume School excursion later this week:

  • Full School Uniform will be required to travel to Sovereign Hill on both Thursday and Friday.
  • Drop off and pick up at Buninyong - please be at Buninyong by 8:45am at the latest
  • In addition to the provided 1850s costumes, students will need to provide the following:
    • Shoes – plain black or brown leather-style, preferably no zips
    • Long socks - plain white, black or grey (no logos/patterns)
    • Lunches must be in a plain paper bag with the student’s name written on it. Any modern packaging should be concealed inside.
    • Snack should be in a separate bag with name written on it.
    • Students do not need drink bottles, as water is readily available from bubble taps at the schools.

With some of the beautiful weather that we were greeted with last week, the students made the most of break times with lots of creative play in the sandpits. We love it!

Prep Preschooler Program

Three weeks down and one to go for our prep preschooler program. It has been wonderful to see our new preps settle in so confidently in the first three sessions. They will feel like they are already part of the furniture by the time 2027 comes around!

Celebrating our Talented Writers

At last week’s Scotsburn assembly, some SC1 students had the opportunity to share a piece of writing that they were proud of. We love any opportunity we get to be able to champion students’ great work, and it was clear from the students that they loved this opportunity as well. What a talented bunch you all are!

Public Holiday - next Tuesday November 3

A reminder that next Tuesday is a public holiday, so it will be a day at home for students and families.

Prep - Grade 2 Sports Day

Our SC1 Prep - 2 students had an amazing day at Buninyong last week for their sports day. Greeted with glorious weather, all students had a red hot go at every activity, and had so much fun. We loved the student reflections about the day at our Scotsburn assembly last Friday afternoon as well!

End of Year Dates and Arrangements

This week, the Scotsburn staff are busily getting all of our end of year arrangements and events ready - this will come around before we know it! Hopefully by the end of this week we will have a note ready to go home with all the details of each event we have coming up. We are very conscious to get this out as early as possible, so that we are all informed and ready for the busy end of the year.

2027 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2027 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:

Scotsburn- Virtual Tour (youtube.com)

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
