Regional Athletics

On Tuesday 6 October, 45 Nossal students, accompanied by Mr Christiansen and Ms Kaur, ventured to the Casey Fields athletics track for the Southern Metro Regional Athletics competition.

Throughout the day, students put in an incredible amount of effort across a wide range of track and field events. It proved to be a fantastic opportunity, highlighting our school's athletic talents in an extremely competitive environment. Overall, Nossal put on an outstanding performance against some of the state's most dominant athletes, taking the podium on multiple occasions. It was great to see so many Nossal students with medals around their necks, and needless to say, everyone should be immensely proud of themselves!

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and good luck to the few who will be competing at Lakeside Stadium for the State Athletics Championship! A huge thank you to Ms Kaur, Mr Christiansen and Mr Sacco for making this event possible.

As always, the South Metro Regional Athletics Championships were an action-packed day of explosive sprints, powerful jumps and mighty throwing events. Nossalonians had their gear on and were ready to win and bring success to our school name. A little rain did not stand in the way of student talent, with many successfully placing in the top 3 of their events. Some notable results included Dinath and Andy placing first in their races/events, securing a place at final's on Friday 16 October! And the under 16's boys and under 17's boys 4 x 100m relays both narrowly placed second and third.

Being both my first, and last time competing at regionals, I was especially excited to participate and will joyously look back at the memories of my prep training sessions, competing in my race and cheering on the rest of the crew. I also learnt a lot about high jump after helping out both Mr Christiansen and Ms Kaur for a good portion of the time, whom I do thank for making this day possible for our school community!

Region Boys Hockey

The Nossal Intermediate Boys Hockey team took to the field for the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR) Hockey competition, ready to give it our best. While we didn’t come away with an overall win, we showed plenty of determination, worked hard and kept fighting until the end.

With Ridith Banerjee leading as captain and Ms Clarkson organising and coaching the team, we gave it our all and represented Nossal with pride. For most of us, the competition was a completely new experience, and despite the final result, we can be proud of the way we played, the effort we put in and the way we stuck together as a team.
