Wear it Purple Day
On the 27th of August, Epping Secondary College celebrated Wear It Purple Day with a fun and creative day focused on inclusion, connection and self-expression at Whittlesea Tech School.
The day was filled with creative activities such as making their own designs for tote bags, t-shirts and badges, using their creativity to express themselves and create something they could take home.
The students also participated in creative challenges such as drawing something that fits inside a circle, turning a simple shape into a creative exercise that uses imagination with the result showing different ways students expressed their individual ideas.
It was a fantastic day of creativity and connection. Wear it Purple Day gives our students a chance to celebrate being themselves, appreciate one another, and help create a community where everyone feels seen, supported and included.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a memorable celebration at Whittlesea Tech School!
Raise Mentoring Workshop: Building Skills, Confidence and Connection
The Raise Mentoring program is designed to support young people to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience. The skills and strategies they develop provide valuable tools they can draw on both now and throughout their lives.
Over six months during Terms 2 and 3, each young person worked one-to-one with the same mentor each week, providing the opportunity to build a strong, trusted and supportive relationship. Together, they explored the topic of the week or set their own agenda, using the time to talk about the things that mattered most to them.
The program provided a safe space for young people to be heard, develop practical life skills and build the confidence to navigate the ups and downs of growing up.
The graduation celebration recognised the commitment and growth of each participant and celebrated the positive connections developed throughout the program.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Raise Mentors for their dedication and support and congratulate all of our graduates on this significant achievement.
We are excited to continue our relationship with the Raise Mentoring program in 2027, with the program being offered to Year 8 students. If you would like to learn more about the program or are interested in your young person participating, please contact Suzanne Pollard, Student Wellbeing Leader, in Term 4.
Pasefika Program- Visit with Victoria Police
On Tuesday 15 September 2026, our Pasefika Program had the opportunity to take part in a special session with members of Victoria Police.
We welcomed Leading Senior Constable Marlene Drummond, Senior Constable Metiria Bell, Sergeant Toi Tauafiafi, Leading Senior Constable Carmel Schreafer and Acting Manager of Human Rights Division Tia Pirihi.
The session gave students an insight into the different roles and responsibilities within Victoria Police, as well as the range of career pathways and opportunities available to them in the future.
A highlight of the session was hearing from the officers about their cultural identities, backgrounds and experiences. As Pasefika police members, they shared aspects of their own culture and experiences with our students, creating a valuable opportunity for connection through shared cultural understanding.
Students were encouraged to ask questions, learn more about careers in policing and develop a greater understanding of the role Victoria Police plays in supporting and serving the community.
We would like to thank Victoria Police for taking the time to visit our school and connect with our Pasefika students. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn, connect and celebrate the importance of culture, community and future pathways.
Games Club Presents a Spirited House Competition
Last Monday, the Games Club hosted a lunchtime House competition, with students representing their Houses and competing for valuable points. On offer were three exciting events:
Super Smash Bros: a chaotic brawler where players battled not only each other but also the hazards of ever-changing stages.
Just Dance: an energetic contest of rhythm and movement set to a selection of popular songs.
And finally, Mario Kart World: where drivers raced head-to-head in a test of speed, skill, and strategy.
The competition produced some impressive House performances, with Aqua House claiming the most points in both Super Smash Bros. and Just Dance, while Terra House sped to victory in Mario Kart World.
The event was made even more memorable by the enthusiasm of our Year 12 students, who were celebrating Spirit Week. Dressed in pyjamas, they brought plenty of energy, laughter, and school spirit to the competition, helping create a fun and vibrant atmosphere for all involved.
- Keep an eye out in the bulletin for more events in the future.
