Prime Minister's Spelling Bee

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Spelling Bee again this year. We have 10 students progress to the State finals, including Liam K from 4CG who was the fastest of the top Victorian performers and was featured in the Herald Sun on the weekend.

The Spelling Bee provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate language and learning, but the benefits of an activity like this extend well beyond spelling itself. Students develop perseverance, concentration, confidence. They learn that success often comes from preparation, practice and being willing to make mistakes and try again.

Celebrating Ruth's Retirement

Last week we celebrated the remarkable career of Mrs Ruth Stephens as she retires after more than four decades in education. Ruth has made an extraordinary difference through her work as our Literacy Intervention teacher, helping countless students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Ruth’s warmth, patience and unwavering commitment to every child have left a lasting legacy in our school community. We thank Ruth for her outstanding service and wish her every happiness in a well-deserved retirement.

Planning for 2027 Class Structures

At this time of year, we begin the important process of planning our class structures and class sizes for the following year. This involves careful consultation around staffing and the 2027 budget to determine the best structure and best learning environment for all students.

To support this planning, it is essential that we have an accurate picture of our 2027 enrolments. If your child will not be returning to Banyule Primary School next year, please let the office know as soon as possible. Having accurate enrolment information now helps us plan staffing and class organisation effectively for the year ahead. Thank you for your support.

Book Week Fun!

What a wonderful week of reading, imagination and creativity we enjoyed during Book Week! Our annual dress-up parade was filled with an incredible array of favourite book characters, and it was fantastic to see so many students embracing the joy of books. A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and carers for the time, effort and creativity you put into organising costumes for your children. Your support helped make the day such a fun and memorable celebration for our whole school community.
