Cultural Understanding Day – We Are All in !

On Monday 22nd June, Greenhills will hold a special Cultural Understanding Day – We Are All In! This day will provide students with an opportunity to learn, celebrate, and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives through meaningful experiences and activities.

As part of the day, students will work together in their house teams and are encouraged to proudly wear their house tops. We are also excited to welcome back Emma Bamblett, who will share her inspiring artist journey and speak about the stories and meaning behind our Greenhills house tops. Emma’s connection to culture and storytelling continues to play an important role within our school community, and we look forward to learning from her once again.

The day also connects closely with the important messages of National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day.

National Sorry Day acknowledges the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. It provides an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on our shared history and continue working towards healing, understanding, and reconciliation.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. Through opportunities such as Cultural Understanding Day, we continue to build respect, understanding, and stronger connections within our school community.

We look forward to a meaningful and engaging day of learning and celebration together.
