This week’s photo of a Prep maths learning in action captures the wonderful engagement and active learning taking place in our classrooms. The photo highlights the teacher working closely with a small group to provide targeted support and explicit teaching, while other students work independently to apply their learning using a range of hands-on concrete materials. It was fantastic to see students confidently exploring mathematical concepts, collaborating with peers and using practical resources to strengthen their understanding. The lesson reflects the strong balance of guided instruction, independent learning and student engagement that is central to our Responsive Teaching and Learning Model at Greenhills Primary School.

Congratulations to our wonderful Greenhills Primary School Choir for their fantastic performance at the Boroondara Eisteddfod. Our students sang beautifully and represented the school with pride, confidence and enthusiasm. A special mention must go to the choir members for the feedback they gained from the adjudicators. This included the outstanding way they remained focused on the conductor throughout the performance, demonstrating excellent teamwork, concentration and professionalism. We are incredibly proud of the effort, dedication and positive attitude shown by all members of our school choir.
A big shout out to Stephen Valeri our Choir Conductor and Jen Ellis who assisted with supervision on the day and thank you to Ashley Dunne for completing all the organisation of this event.

A huge thank you to our amazing Year 5/6 Community Action Team Leaders for organising a fantastic lunchtime disco for students at Greenhills Primary School! The event was filled with music, dancing and plenty of smiles which created a fun and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. We are incredibly proud of the leadership, teamwork and organisation shown by our Action Team Leaders in planning such a successful lunchtime for our students.
Our Community Action Team will also be running a Comfy Clothes Day tomorrow. Students are invited to wear comfy clothes such as trackies and hoodies while still wearing appropriate footwear (no UGG boots please). Between recess and the end of the day, students will watch a movie with their class. Students may bring a snack to eat during the movie.
#Please note that there is no gold coin donation required.

At a recent professional learning session with our teachers, we officially launched the “Activate” phase of our Greenhills Responsive Teaching and Learning Model. The session focused on the key role Activate plays in preparing students for learning by building engagement, sparking curiosity and connecting to prior knowledge. Staff explored a range of strategies designed to help students feel ready, focused and confident at the beginning of each lesson, including opportunities for discussion, retrieval practice, purposeful questioning and collaborative thinking. The launch provided an exciting opportunity for staff to deepen their understanding of how strong lesson beginnings can maximise student participation and set students up for success in their learning.
Don’t forget that on Wednesday 3rd June we have our next Mid-Term Meet with the Principal Team. This will be via Webex from 7.30pm. The sessions are held at the mid point of each term. We introduced these meetings last year to help keep you in the loop with things that are happening across our school. They are also another forum to ask questions, provide feedback and suggestions and continue our strong home school partnership.
