This past weekend, Emelia and Emily in Year 5, competed brilliantly at the Victorian Senior Gymnastics State Championships, competing at Level 5. Both girls demonstrated impressive skill and determination, with the competition finishing on a high as they delivered a fantastic synchronised routine to secure a podium finish together. Following these outstanding results, Emelia has been selected to represent Victoria at the National Gymnastics Championships in Sydney this July in both Individual and Synchronised Trampoline alongside Emily. Congratulations to Emelia and Emily on this incredible achievement. We wish them all the best at Nationals.

What is your favourite trampoline skill?

Emily - Rudi is like a front flip with a half twist.

Emelia - Bull out ½  is a front flip landing on your back and doing a front flip with a half turn and landing on your feet, and Rudi, which is a front flip with a one and a half twist.

In the Year 5/6 level, we made grass heads as part of our science unit. We have been making weekly observations to investigate how grass grows under different conditions. The grass heads were placed in different environments, including near the window, in the cupboard, and outside, allowing us to observe how each condition affects their growth.

On Sunday, the Year 5/6s gathered for our Year Level Mass. It was especially important for the Year 6’s as we are making our commitment for Confirmation later in the year. The Mass was celebrated during Pentecost. Pentecost is commemorated 50 days after Easter, and is when the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus's disciples and gave them the gift of speech.

The gifts of the spirit are: Fortitude (courage), Piety, Fear of the Lord (awe), Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, and Counsel.

Year 6 Leadership Day

On Wednesday the 27th of May the Year 6s went to St Louis with St Louis students and Resurrection School Keysborough. We learnt about teamwork.  We all worked together in group activities such as doing a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces were mixed up with 17 other groups, and there was a trading circle in the middle of the group. If you caught the trading pieces out of the trading circle, you would take up to five jigsaw pieces away and would mix them up with other groups. It was great to work together and collaborate during the activity.

Sorry Day Prayer Service

On Tuesday, we had a liturgy to remember and say sorry to the Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders for the pain caused to them. We apologised for the Stolen Generation and discrimination. We continue to repair the wound that we made and work towards a positive future.

National Simultaneous Story Time- Luna Roo!

Luna Roo is about a kangaroo playing soccer and all the animals doubting that she wasn’t good enough playing for FC Outback against Bush United. She proved everyone wrong and kicked two goals! Reminding us to never give up hope.

What did you learn in the story?

Mason - People may doubt you, but there is always a second chance to prove to people who doubt you wrong.

Ashton - If you don’t try your best, you definitely won’t succeed, but if you do, there is always a chance.
