Free Holiday Fun at the Library

Autumn is a great time to be out and about, and Goulburn Valley Libraries has you covered when it comes to activities that will entertain all ages during the school holidays. Pipe cleaner jewellery making, a dino craft party, marble maze making, basket weaving, a Mario Kart Tournament and so much more will be on offer throughout the two weeks.

All our holiday program sessions are free to attend, but we do recommend booking a place so that you don’t miss out. Pick up a holiday program at any Goulburn Valley Library or find the full schedule at www.gvlibraries.com.au/holidays. Giant board games are on the move again, giving you the chance to challenge friends and family to a different game throughout each holiday period. See if your library has Giant Connect 4, Chess, Noughts & Crosses, Snakes and Ladders, or one of the other great games that we have available.

Looking for something to do with babies and younger children? All our regular Rhyme & Story Times continue during the holiday period. Come along to any Goulburn Valley Library Rhyme & Story Time or Baby Rhyme Time session to enjoy songs, rhymes, stories and craft for children aged 0–6 years, their families and carers. Give us a call on 1300 374 765 or visit our website www.gvlibraries.com.au to find dates and times for each session. No bookings are required.

Perhaps you just want to relax and read a good book– speak to our friendly staff for some recommendations. Visit our website to find eBooks and eAudiobooks through BorrowBox or Cloud Library, as well as access to many other great resources such as Storybox Library, Kanopy Kids, LOTE Online for Kids, Comics Plus and so much more.

Swinburne's Master of Teaching (Secondary)

Swinburne's employment-based Master of Teaching (Secondary) is supported by the Victorian Government through the Teach Today & Teach Tomorrow (TT&TT) initiative (click here for further details).  The program is designed to grow a local teaching workforce, candidates train while remaining embedded in their communities and, through a Permission to Teach arrangement in their second year, gain hands-on experience in local schools. For schools facing workforce challenges, this is a practical pathway to attracting teachers who are already part of the community and more likely to stay.

We are hosting a community webinar Monday 13 April at 7 pm, for people in priority LGAs, who may be interested in exploring this pathway further.  We would greatly appreciate your school including the attached short flyer in any communications going out to your community.

YMAA Junior Art Competition

It’s on again. Get your pencils, textas, crayons or paints ready for the 2026 Junior Art Competition run by the Yarrawonga Mulwala Artist Association (YMAA).

The Competition will run from Friday 24th April to Sunday 10th May. Entry is free and open to Primary School children in the Yarrawonga, Mulwala and surrounding areas.

The theme for this year’s competition is ‘My Favourite Thing’. Is it a pet, a place, your family or a friend? Or perhaps a super hero, a toy or even a food? Your artwork can be a painting, drawing, print, or mixed media to make a 2D picture of your favourite thing.

The competition has four categories: Prep, Grade 1 and 2, Grade 3 and 4, Grade 5 and 6. Prizes will be presented for ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Encouragement Award’ in each category. All entrants will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’.

The winners will be announced at the Grand Opening on Friday 24th April at 5.30pm. Family and friends of the entrants are invited to attend.
