2025 sporting wrap-up
What a year for sport at Preston High! Our students really threw themselves into competition and the results speak for themselves.
Across the year we sent out 45 division teams, and an impressive 18 of those qualified for regional competitions, with a number making it through to NMR grand finals. Our sports representation was huge, covering:
Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Cross Country, Athletics, Swimming, Soccer, Footy, Table Tennis - and of course, our unstoppable Badminton crew, who’ve levelled up from a team into a thriving club with serious momentum.
Even more impressively, three separate groups reached State Championships:
• Cohort 2030 Boys/Mixed Tennis - taking 3rd in the state!
• Cohort 2027 Girls Tennis
• Cohort 2030 Boys/Mixed Soccer - who only narrowly lost the Grand Final in a heart-stopping penalty shootout.
We were also thrilled to have 13 individual athletes represent PHS at state level in swimming, athletics, and cross country - with the Cohort 2027 Boys Cross Country team finishing an incredible 4th in the state.
This is an extraordinary set of achievements. We may be a young and relatively small school, but our Kingfishers showed grit, talent and spirit at every stage of competition. We are incredibly proud of every student who trained, competed, supported, and represented our community with pride.
Bring on 2026 - our Kingfishers are just getting started!
