Foundation Swimming Program

The Foundation Swimming Program will start tomorrow, Wednesday 15th July. A very big thank you to the parents/guardians who have offered to help walk the students to and from Heather’s Swim School on Main Street, Elliminyt. A roster has been sent home to all Foundation parents. Can the volunteers please meet teachers at the Gate near the Foundation classrooms 30 minutes before the swimming lesson.

 

Year FSF swimming lesson – 11:45am – 12:15pm

Year FCG swimming lesson – 12:15pm – 12:45pm

Year FSN swimming lesson – 12:45pm – 1:15pm

 

Winter Sport Round 2

The second round of the Winter Sport Competitions for our Year 5 and 6 students will take place this Friday, 17th July at Sacred Heart. This will commence at 11:45am and finish at 1:15pm. The students will compete in a variety of sports, including soccer, netball, hot shots tennis, table tennis, down ball and badminton. We look forward to welcoming Colac West and St Brendan’s Primary Schools to our school.

 

Greater Western Soccer

Congratulations to our soccer team that competed in the Greater Western Soccer at the end of Term 2 in Ballarat. The boys did very well, coming third overall in the tournament. A big thank you to Trinity students Joe and Dash for coaching on the day. Thanks to the parents who supported the day.

 

Greater Western AFL 9’s Football

Congratulations to our Boys AFL 9’s Football team who competed in the Greater Western AFL 9’s Football at the end of last term in Wendouree. The boys did very well and were third overall in the tournament. A big thank you to coach Adam G and to the parents who supported with scoring, goal umpiring etc on the day.

 

Auskick and Superkick

This term, AFL House will be running an Auskick and Superkick program at Sacred Heart on a Wednesday night from 3:30 – 4:30pm. This program is available for all students. More information can be found on our Community page in the newsletter.

 

Term 2 Swimming Lessons

A very big thank you to all the parents/grandparents who assisted with our Year 1 – Year 4 Swimming Program at Heather’s Swim School. The program could not run without your help, so we are very grateful.

Footy Gala Day

On Friday 31st July, our Year 3 and 4 students have the opportunity to participate in the Colac Division Year 3 and 4 Football Gala Day. This is a day where interested students play in a round robin against other schools, playing AFL 9’s. This will take place at Colac Central Reserve. More information will be sent home via PAM closer to the date. We will need parent helpers on this day, so please keep this day free.

Name: Harry (Year 6SF)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are football, basketball and cricket.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is midfield because I get to run all over the field and have more opportunities to get the ball.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was winning the Best and Fairest award in football.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my skills in both football and basketball.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Western Bulldogs.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose footballer Marcus Bontempelli and basketball player Stephen Curry.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is to stretch and listen to music.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would say that I am sporty, very fast, and always encourage my teammates.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who is fair, plays by the rules, and shakes hands with the opposition at the end of the game.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, horse riding and dance.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is dance.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite style of dance is acro because I enjoy learning and performing challenging skills and tricks.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was receiving a trophy for dance.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my front handspring and aerial backbend skills in dance.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting teams are the Melbourne Vixens and the Brisbane Lions.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Zara Walters from the Vixens.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My lucky habit before a sporting activity is wearing my lucky bow in my hair.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would describe me as someone who is always actively engaged and gives their best effort.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who is a good team player and can accept losing without getting angry.

1. What sports do you play? I play football, soccer and cricket.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is cricket.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite roles in cricket are batting and bowling because I enjoy contributing to the team in both ways.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was scoring my first runs and taking my first wicket in cricket.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I’ve improved the most is my batting. I’m starting to hit the ball further, and I’m also bowling faster than I used to.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Sydney Sixers.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with any famous athlete, I would choose Mitchell Starc.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? Before a game, I like to warm up and drink Powerade.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would describe me as a consistent sportsperson who gives their best and is reliable across a range of sports.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? My dad has taught me what it means to be a good sportsperson by encouraging me to always try my best and play fairly.
