Principal's Address

Dear Parents,

Today we had the opportunity to celebrate our dads and father figures in Chapel and this service had it all! From singing to delving into God’s Word and a number of challenges for our school dads!

I have that vivid memory when I was in Year 1 of looking at a photo of my dad and thinking, “My dad is so amazing!” To this day, we always find opportunities to do things together; he even joins me in running races! It is truly a privilege and a blessing to be able to make memories with our parents.

As I reflected on Father’s Day, I was also reminded of the way Jesus spoke about God as Father. In the Old Testament, God is certainly described as Father, but this language is used relatively sparingly and often in relation to Israel as His people. When Jesus comes, however, the language of God as Father becomes much more prominent. Jesus speaks of “my Father”, “your Father” and teaches His disciples to pray, “Our Father in heaven” (Matthew 6:9).

Of course, no earthly father is perfect, and our experiences of fatherhood can be very different. Yet Scripture points us to a Father whose love is perfect and unwavering.

As we celebrate our dads and father figures this weekend, may we be thankful for the memories we are able to make with them, but may we also be reminded of the even greater privilege we have through Christ: to know God and call Him Father.
