As our term comes to an end you will now be seeing our Semester One Reports for each student. As previously mentioned, these are completed very comprehensively by our teachers! We strive that every report demonstrates just how truly known each of our students are, including their many many strengths and any challenges too.

We thought we would unpack a couple of things about reports in this article, but we also look forward to our Learning Conversations in Term Three, where Parents, Teachers and Students will sit and discuss learning including these reports.

Progress in Motion

A very important take away from our reports, is that we will never compare our students to each other. We know all of our students are on their own educational journey! School reports will only ever compare students to their previous efforts, striving to show the growth they have made in areas across the curriculum.

Achievement Standard

This is the box you will see above subjects. In this score there is a tracking of student progress in this subject. For core subjects such as Mathematics and Literacy this will be marked every six months, however for some other subjects, such as Geography, the students previous score may be from further back.

These scores are triangulated based off the criteria of Skills which will the box below.

Skills

As teachers, these are what we refer to often as one of the best areas of our student reports. Through this box you can see how our teachers have reached the students achievement standard. We understand subjects are incredibly dense, and require a wide range of skills to show achievement in.

These skills are taken from our Victorian Curriculum, which dictates what we teach. The skills are always a nice spread of different elements of a curriculum area that show our students ability. As we discussed last issue, a skill will absolutely never be assessed off of one day, one test or one activity! These are tracked closely over time by our teachers, with our students being given many different opportunities to show their ability and growth.

Work Habits

For each of our subjects you will also find the box which unpacks our students work habits, including Effort and Class Behaviour. Again these are not simple tick boxes, and lots of consideration goes into these! When reading these boxes, please consider the following questions that our teachers have observed, noted and worked on:

As you would expect, both of these areas are judged in an age appropriate way. We have very different expectations of our older students to our ones just starting their educational journey!

Teacher Comments

These comments are completed in a very thorough way and go through different areas of the Curriculum, as well as offering a snapshot of how our students are presenting at school. Again we pride ourselves on our relationships at St Anthony's, so we know our teachers are in constant dialogue with our parents about this already!

The Journey is the best part!

Our entire staff is so proud of the effort of all of our students, which has been fantastic this semester.

Reports are a snapshot of your child's progress at this point in time. Where areas for growth are identified, please know that these come from a place of care and a genuine desire to see our students thrive. They show us as teachers where to next, and where additional support can be provided.

We know that all parents and carers will celebrate what your child has achieved, and trust us, there is plenty to celebrate!
