 PRAYER

Why do we honour Mary during the month of May

The month of May is seen as a time for spiritual renewal and growth, with Catholics encouraged to pray the Rosary, say the Hail Mary, and to remember Mary the Mother God when we go to Mass each Sunday. By saying “Yes” to God to be the mother of Jesus, Mary has a unique role in the salvation of the world.  For us, Mary is a model of faith, humility, and obedience, and we are encouraged to imitate her virtues in our own lives.

Hail Mary

The Hail Mary is a special prayer we can pray asking Our Lady to intercede on our behalf.  It is one of the main prayers said when we say the Rosary.

Hail Mary,

Full of Grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of death.

Amen
