Assistant Principal's Report:

To commence this week, I would like to express the School Community’s heartfelt condolences to Dean Rogers and his family on the passing of a family member during the week. We hope you find comfort in your cherished memories during this difficult time.

 Dean Rogers will be taking some time off from KTHS to be with his family, as such I will be stepping up into this role.

There has been a lot of communication in the media this week about the Industrial Action scheduled for Tuesday, 24th March.   Below is the formal communication to parents about next week.

Dear parents and carers,

The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Tuesday, 24th March 2026.  

Based upon the information provided to me, 13 of our teaching staff will be taking part in the strike action. As a consequence: 

• The School is open.
• Students in Yr 7-12 will have a modified program for the day.
• Scheduled VVLN SACs will still be conducted.
• The canteen is available.
• Buses will be operating.
• School will operate a General Assembly timetable.
• Student notifications will remain the same through the attendance Kiosk and XUNO.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. 

SCHOOL PHOTOS:

Arrangements for purchasing School photos will be distributed when the images are available to be checked.   This should be in one to two weeks time.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES:

Scheduled for Tuesday, 21st April – Day 2 Term 2. Reminder that this is a Pupil Free Day.

This is a great opportunity to catch up with your child's teachers after the first 10 weeks of 2026. 

Information will be distributed through XUNO and access to bookings will become available at the beginning of the last week of term.

We are currently inviting parent nominations for School Council and warmly encourage you to consider becoming involved. Joining School Council is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the direction and future of our school. It is especially exciting at this time, as we continue to grow and develop with the addition of new buildings and ongoing improvements. Your voice, ideas and perspective as a parent are incredibly valuable as we navigate these changes together.

WHAT IS A SCHOOL COUNCIL AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally constituted bodies that are given powers to set the key directions of a school within statewide guidelines. In doing this, a school council is able to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.

WHY IS PARENT MEMBERSHIP SO IMPORTANT?

Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school. 

DO I NEED SPECIAL EXPERIENCE TO BE ON SCHOOL COUNCIL?

Each member brings their own valuable life skills and knowledge to the role. What you do need is an interest in your child's school and the desire to work in partnership with others to help shape the school's future.

HOW LONG IS A TERM Of OFFICE?

Two years with half of the members retiring each year which creates vacancies for the annual school council elections. Meetings are held the third Monday of every month.

I would like to encourage our parent community to think about nominating for School Council. Together, we can continue to work to make Kerang Technical School a school to be proud of.
