School Council Report

The new School Council met for the first time this week. Unfortunately, we had a few members unable to attend, but we were able to establish a quorum, meaning the meeting could go ahead.

Our new Council consists of Ziva C and Marley-May T as the student representatives, Emma Colson, Courtney Dangerfield, Owen Davies, Rachel Fallon, Sarah Macdonald and Claire Mackinlay as the parent representatives and Andrew Greenfield, Mitch Harris, Simone Roy and Rhona Weir as the DE representatives.

Being the first meeting there was a lot of introductory work that needed to be completed, such as declaring the candidates, discussing the legal structure of school councils, and looking at its role, powers and functions. School councillors will complete a self-assessment, followed by onsite School Council training. No election was required as we had the number of self-nominations match the number of positions vacant.

We also looked at the Standing Orders, determined potential dates and times for the remainder of the year’s meetings and elected Office bearers. I’d like to thank and congratulate Owen Davies, for taking on the President’s role and Claire Mackinlay for taking on the Vice President’s role. More usual business included looking at the financial reports, the Anaphylaxis policy and providing suggestions for the draft Annual Report (for the 2025 year).

The next meeting will be held in Week 4 of Term 2, Tuesday 12th May from 6.30pm.
