Principal's Update

Dear Families,
Our Principal John Rudd is currently on Long Service Leave and will return this Thursday instead of next term. Unfortunately, Mr Rudd’s leave was cut short due to the unsafe situation overseas. We hope that the pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey will be rescheduled in the near future, as we know how much he was looking forward to it.
Over the last week, our Year 3 and Year 5 students have participated in NAPLAN tasks. These assessments provide a snapshot of students’ progress in literacy and numeracy and help schools understand how students are developing over time. We thank all the Year 3 and 5 teachers for their support and patience in administering the tasks and for Mr Romeo’s technical knowledge!
This Friday, our School Leaders will represent our school at the St Patrick’s Feast Day Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, accompanied by Ms Alison. This is a special opportunity for our student leaders to come together with leaders from other schools to celebrate the life of St Patrick and reflect on the values of faith, service and community.
Congratulations to Mr Raymond Mammone, who attended a special commissioning Mass for graduate teachers last Friday at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Mr Mammone was joined by over 200 graduate teachers who have all found employment in the Catholic education system. We wish him well as he commences his teaching career here at St Margaret’s. We’re so lucky to have him!
Wishing Ms Tara Parker all the very best this Saturday, 21st March, as she celebrates her wedding day. We hope Tara and Jackson have a truly wonderful day and that the weather gods are kind to them. Congratulations to them both, and we wish them many years of love, happiness and good health together.
Just a reminder that our Swimming Program commences next week. This is an intensive program that will run over the week. All students from Year 1-6 are expected to participate in the program. A reminder for parents and carers to read our School Stream notifications carefully regarding the students getting changed in the bathrooms. Parents are not permitted to enter the changerooms allocated to schools but may choose to assist in dressing their own child in the public bathrooms.
If you have a sibling of a child commencing in Prep 2027 please lodge an application for them online via the following link:
Enrolments for Prep 2027 close on Friday 1 May.
Finally, a reminder that Friday 20th March will be House Colours Day as we celebrate Harmony Day. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed in their house colours as we celebrate school spirit and community. It’s always wonderful to see the bright colours and enthusiasm across the school, and we look forward to a fun day together.
Have a great week!
Ms Vicky Augello
