Literacy

This fortnight in Literacy, our Prep students have been learning to recognise and read the sounds and letters m, d, g, o, c, and f. They have been practising blending these sounds to read and spell simple words such as fat, mad, gap, cot, mop, dim, fog, and cat. Our Preps are becoming more confident as the weeks go by. We have also been focusing on the high-frequency word “is”, helping students to recognise and use it in their reading and writing.

Our Year 1/2 students have been applying their knowledge of the split digraph “a-e” to read, spell, and write more complex words such as whale, amaze, behave, cupcake, and update. They have also been developing their writing by learning to use describing words (adjectives) to add more detail to nouns, helping to make their sentences more interesting for their audience.

Maths

This fortnight in Maths, students have been developing their understanding of number by practising counting backwards from 20. They have also been learning to count on and count back from different starting numbers, helping them build flexibility and confidence with numbers.

Casual Day

Yesterday in the junior room, we also enjoyed a fun casual day while the senior students were away on camp. We had lots of fun watching a movie, making fairy bread slice with Madi, and enjoying milkshakes together!

Art

We have finished constructing our Colour Wheels and don't they look amazing! Exactly what the Art Room needed - a bit of colour and fun. We have continued to learn about Warm and Cool Colours and how they can make us feel.

Stay tuned for some egg-cellent Easter art!
