CBCA Book Week – We have some more winners to announce! Congratulations to Belle Chandler and Jasmine Muhimpundu on winning first prize for the acrostic poem, and also congratulations to Nargis Ziraki for winning first prize for the re-design your own book cover competition! Well done to these students and thankyou for entering and being part of celebrating the CBCA Book Week for 2026!
One of our other activities was our very own ‘Symphony of Stories’ where participants have provided a line or two from something they have enjoyed reading. See our story below!

‘The Lone Ranger, The Shadow, The Whistler, and Gang Busters.
Steve, Mary and Mara were on a mission.
Steve grew up surrounded by crocodiles, snakes, lizards, koalas, and a whole host of other animals - he was given a pet python for his 6th birthday. By the time he was nine, Steve was out catching crocodiles with his Dad.
He didn't want to be there and was determined not to be impressed. He looked at the red and black shoes and commented that red that was the ‘devils colour.’
‘Our work, it seems to me, can bring us a special bonus of pleasure and satisfaction, through…our ability to peep into the inexhaustible world of the smallest forms of existence,’ Steve said.
‘I can’t tell from his tone weather there’s something else going on here’ said Mary.
‘We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star but we can understand the universe, that makes us something very special,’ Mara replied
‘Better now,’ Steve replied to Mara with the same grin always knowing what to say to make her blush.
Mary rolled her eyes.
The old lighthouse had been dark for fifty years, until one stormy night its light suddenly began to shine again.
When Mara, Mary, and Stevce climbed the stairs to investigate, she found a message carved into the glass. ‘The Lighthouse Remembers’.
Mary turned the key in the lock. She heard it click open after ten years of rust broke away.
The only light came from a single lamp and close beside this sat the White Witch.
‘Wait! I thought it was impossible for anyone to have two different devil fruit powers!’ cried Mary
‘The One Piece!!! The Once Piece is Real!!! Steve shouted.
‘Think about it…who would ever buy a slave…’ whispered Mara
‘You need to break some eggs to make an omelette’ muttered Mary.
‘And you didn’t beat it, you smashed it’’ sad the Witch.

Lunchtime Libraries Games – All of our libraries are currently tidying up and taking suggestions for new or replacement items in our games cupboards, please tell us what you would like! Uno is an old time favourite, but have you tried the variations like Uno no Mercy?
Returns and loans – As it nears the end of term, please remember to bring back any overdue or close to due items which can be returned, or renewed. Make sure you grab yourself some good reads for the holiday period!
