Numeracy Curriculum Update

 Seeing Maths All Around Us on Camp!

While our 3/4 students were away on camp, they discovered that mathematics isn’t just something we do in the classroom—it is all around us!

From reading timetables and keeping track of time, to measuring distances, counting steps, estimating quantities and working out how much food is needed, camp provides countless opportunities to use mathematical thinking in real-life situations.

Students were encouraged to look closely at their surroundings and ask themselves, “Where can I see maths?” Whether they are navigating their way around the campsite, sharing resources, comparing distances or planning activities, they were using problem-solving, estimation, measurement and reasoning skills without even realising it!

We love seeing our students make these connections and recognise that mathematics is a powerful tool for making sense of the world around us.

Final Week of Family Maths Challenges!

We have reached the final week of our Family Maths Challenges! 

Thank you to all the families who have joined in, shared their mathematical thinking and tackled the challenges together.

We hope you have enjoyed discovering that maths can be fun, challenging and found everywhere!
