Over the following two weeks students will be experiencing Indonesian language and culture daily, engaging in a wide range of activities to extend their Indonesian language and their understanding of Indonesian arts.

Indonesia’s Independence Day

On Monday 18th August, Indonesian students participated in games to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day which is commemorated on the 17th August each year. Some of the games included ‘Bola dan sarung’ – Ball and sarongs, ‘Balap kelereng’ – Marble and spoon race, and ‘Balap makan kerupuk’ – Kerupuk eating game. Students also listened to the Indonesian National Anthem in class and watched a video of ‘Panjat pinang’, which is a game where many people must work together to get to the top of a very tall pole that has been painted in oil!

Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan!!
