Grade 3/4 Term 3 News

This term the Grade 3/4 students have been busy helping to plant native plants around our school. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Australian plants and how they help our local environment. 

The students had to identify what plants were required in what areas of the school, how much shade or sun they needed and how much water was required. They learned that native plants are well suited to our local climate and can provide food and shelter for birds, insects and other wildlife. 

Part of our inquiry learning was to write letters to local industries to receive assistance for our program. Everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty and working as a team. We are excited to watch our plants grow and see more wildlife visiting our school grounds. We will continue to care for our garden by watering the plants, removing weeds and looking after the area.  

A big thank you to everyone who helped make our native planting project a success. We are proud to be making our school a greener and more welcoming place for people and wildlife. A special thanks to Bunnings Frankston who kindly donated trowels, gloves and potting mix and Frankston City Council for the donation of the native plants. 🌱
