Acting Principal's Message

Dear St John's Community,
There is never a dull moment at St John's, and the last few weeks have been packed with action. It is completely normal if your child is feeling a bit exhausted or out of sorts right now. Balancing physical activities with the emotional ups and downs of excitement and nerves takes a toll, so a little extra rest will go a long way! Not long now until the holidays.
Jumping for Joy: Annual Skipathon Success
It’s been another fantastic year for our annual Skipathon, with students skipping for joy and showcasing major improvements in agility, coordination, and muscular strength. From forward and backward loops to creative footwork tricks, children proudly tracked their progress while strengthening house team spirit. A massive thank you to our families: together, we raised approximately $3,000, which will go directly toward new sports equipment.
This event brought key elements of the Health and Physical Education to life, focusing on motor skill development, cardiovascular endurance, and personal-social capabilities like goal-setting and persistence.
Hoops, Heart and Victory: Lightning Premiership Basketball
Last Friday, our boys and girls basketball teams represented St John’s with exceptional skill and sportsmanship at the annual Lightning Premiership Basketball Championships at Jubilee Park. Competing across 11 fast-paced, 10-minute matches, both teams showcased high-level strategic thinking, spatial awareness, and resilience.
- Girls Team: Undefeated all day, demonstrating relentless defence and seamless teamwork to advance to the next round.
- Boys Team: Displayed incredible grit and tactical execution, finishing second overall in a tightly contested division.
Father's Day Afternoon & BBQ
We were delighted to welcome our dads, granddads, and special father figures to St John’s for a fantastic Father’s Day afternoon! The school grounds were filled with laughter and friendly competition as students showed their guests around, joined in on fun outdoor and indoor games, and shared a relaxed afternoon together.
While the focus was on celebrating the important figures in our students' lives, events like these give students a meaningful space to practice social bonding, express gratitude, and build strong connections between their home and school lives. Sharing active play and a classic BBQ highlighted the value of positive relationships, physical activity, and inclusive community gatherings in supporting social-emotional wellbeing.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to join us, and a huge shout-out to our dedicated parent volunteers and staff who helped fire up the BBQ and keep everything running smoothly. It was a wonderful afternoon of connection, conversation, and community spirit! Happy Father’s Day!
Our Annual Book Fair Success
There was a wonderful buzz of excitement around the school as one of our prep classrooms transformed into a pop-up book shop for this year’s Book Fair! It was delightful to see students browsing the shelves with wide eyes, carefully deliberating over their choices, and proudly purchasing new stories with their hard-earned pocket money (or perhaps Mum and Dad's!).
Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, total sales reached an impressive $2,800 with a commission of about $700 coming right back to St John’s, allowing us to select brand-new, popular titles to stock our home reading book shelves for all students to enjoy.
Thank You for Supporting Reading
A sincere thank you to all the parents, guardians, and staff who supported the fair and helped foster a vibrant reading culture at St John’s. We can't wait to see all the magnificent reading journeys our students embark on with their new books!
Listen to the voice of the Lord who invites you to a full and fruitful life, calling you to put your talents to use and to unite your limitations and weaknesses with the glorious cross of Christ." | Pope Leo XIV
