Year 4

Year 4 have been buzzing with creativity this term, enjoying a mix of exciting art activities and hands‑on robotics in Science.

In Art, students have been transforming recycled materials into colourful, imaginative bugs — each one completely unique and full of personality. They also experimented with a very special nature‑based artwork using plants and flowers. Students rolled up special paper with plant matter and boiled it, allowing the tannins to leach out and transfer to the paper. The results were spectacular, vibrant and wonderfully unpredictable… even if the process did smell a little unusual along the way.

In Science, we’ve begun our new Digital Solutions unit, exploring how algorithms, looping and coding help us solve problems. Students have been practising writing simple instructions, spotting patterns and understanding how computers follow step‑by‑step processes. Just yesterday, Year 4 received a set of Beebots — little robots that students can program, navigate and experiment with. They’ve already been busy testing commands, debugging their code and celebrating when their Beebots reach the target.

We look forward to lots more fun and engaging learning this term.
