Principal's Message 

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope all of our families enjoyed a restful break and had the opportunity to spend quality time together. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school refreshed, enthusiastic and ready for another exciting term of learning.

2027 Kindy Enrolments

Marangaroo Primary School is continuing to accept applications for Kindergarten enrolments for 2027. While applications closed at the end of the first week of Term 3, families are still welcome to submit an enrolment application. If you, or someone you know, has a child who turns four years of age on or before 30 June 2027, please visit the school office to collect an enrolment pack and submit your application.

Please note that priority for placement will be given to families who submitted their enrolment applications by the closing date at the end of Week 1, Term 3. Any applications received after this date will be considered subject to availability and in accordance with the Department of Education's enrolment priorities.

2027 Pre-Primary Enrolments

Families of students currently enrolled in Kindergarten at Marangaroo Primary School received a Pre-Primary enrolment pack last term to support their child's transition into Pre-Primary in 2027. If you have not yet submitted your child's 2027 Pre-Primary enrolment application, we ask that you do so as soon as possible. Prompt submission assists us with planning classes, staffing and resources for the 2027 school year. If you require another enrolment pack or have any questions, please contact the school office and our staff will be happy to assist.

Centre for Excellence

Earlier this year, I submitted an application for Marangaroo Primary School to participate in a Department of Education initiative designed to strengthen the explicit teaching of literacy in schools. I am pleased to share that our application was successful, with Marangaroo selected as one of only a small number of schools to participate in the program. Our internship will continue for the remainder of 2026 and into Semester 1, 2027. Last week, Miss Fisher, Mrs Fort and I attended the first professional learning session alongside representatives from 19 other intern schools. As part of the program, we visited two high-performing schools to observe effective teaching practices and school culture.

While there were many valuable insights, one message stood out above all others—the consistently high expectations these schools held for every student. These expectations extended well beyond literacy and were evident in every classroom, every interaction and every aspect of school life. Students knew what was expected of them, took pride in their learning and contributed to calm, orderly learning environments where everyone could succeed. Following these visits, I spent time in classrooms across Marangaroo and held an informal assembly with our students to share my expectations for our school community. I spoke with students about the importance of creating classrooms where every child has the opportunity to learn without disruption. I outlined three simple expectations that will underpin our work moving forward:

1. Follow the instructions from adults 
2. Engage in learning and complete classroom tasks
3. Respect the learning of others by avoiding behaviours that distract/disrupt

These expectations are not new; they reflect our school values of being Respectful, Responsible and Achievers. However, we will be placing a stronger emphasis on ensuring these expectations are consistently demonstrated by all students.

Families should also be aware that when these expectations are not met, appropriate consequences will be implemented. Depending on the situation, this may include completing unfinished work during recess or lunch, missing part of a break to reflect on behaviour, or completing learning in the office if a student's behaviour is significantly disrupting the learning of others.

Every child has the right to learn in a safe, calm and purposeful environment. By maintaining high expectations and working together with our families, we can continue to build a positive school culture where every student is supported to achieve their very best.

Looking Ahead – A Busy Week 5!

Week 5 is shaping up to be an exciting and busy week at Marangaroo Primary School, with several special events taking place for our students and families.

Throughout the week, classes will be celebrating Book Week with a range of literacy activities centred around this year's theme. The celebrations will culminate with our Book Week Parade on Wednesday 19 August, and we encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character. As always, we look forward to seeing the creativity and imagination on display! Prizes will be awarded for some of the standout costumes, with winners receiving vouchers to spend at our Book Fair, which will be operating throughout the week.

On Thursday 20 August, we will be opening our doors for our Annual Open Evening, which this year will feature an Art Showcase. Every classroom has been busy creating artwork that celebrates the creativity and talents of our students, and we look forward to sharing these wonderful displays with our school community. The Open Evening will run from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and we encourage all families to come along and celebrate the fantastic learning taking place across our school.

The week concludes with more opportunities for our students to shine. On Friday 21 August, our school choir will perform at One Big Voice, while our netball teams will proudly represent Marangaroo Primary School at the Multicultural Netball Carnival.
