Junior School

With cooler days arriving and autumn leaves beginning to carpet the ground, life in our Junior School has remained full of energy and activity over the past few weeks. Following the Easter break, students have quickly settled back into their learning routines and embraced a full and exciting start to the term. Over the opening weeks, students have participated in a wide range of experiences, including the Junior School Cross Country, School Photo Day, Year 3–6 Swimming lessons, the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, our annual Open Day, IGNITE Extension sessions led by Mr Dickson, International Week celebrations, the Year 5 Camp to Sovereign Hill, and the much-loved Mother’s Day Stall. It has been wonderful to see such high levels of involvement, curiosity and positivity from students across every year level as we journey through another exciting term together.
In his letter to the Romans, Paul writes, “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,” (Romans 15:5). These words have resonated strongly throughout our celebration of International Week. We are truly blessed to have such a rich variety of cultures and nationalities represented within our Junior School community, and the week provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both our diversity and our unity in Christ. It has been wonderful to see students proudly sharing aspects of their heritage, learning about cultures both locally within Australia and from all around the world, and celebrating the uniqueness that God has created in each person.
As Christians, we are reminded that while our cultures, languages and traditions may differ, every person is equally loved and valued by God. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus intentionally reaching out to people from different backgrounds and cultures. One powerful example is the Samaritan woman in John 4. Although she came from a different nationality and cultural background to Jesus, He approached her with compassion, dignity and love. His example reminds us that through Jesus and His work on the cross, every person can know God’s love, grace and forgiveness, and that God’s love extends to every nation and every person.
As a College community, and within the theme of Following the Way, we are encouraged to follow the example of Jesus by showing kindness, acceptance and love to everyone, regardless of where they come from. International Week has been a beautiful reminder that our diversity is something to celebrate and that, united in Christ, we are one community learning and growing together.
As we celebrate the rich diversity within our community, it is also important that we continue to guide our children in showing respect, kindness, and Christ-like love towards others both in person and online. At Oxley Christian College, we are committed to nurturing students who recognise that every person is created in the image of God and therefore worthy of dignity and respect. We greatly value the partnership between home and school in helping our students develop wise and responsible habits, particularly in their use of technology and digital communication. Even from a young age, children benefit from learning the importance of kindness online, respecting the privacy of others, and understanding that words and actions can deeply impact those around them.
As parents, it is also important to be aware that, from 10 December 2025, Australian law requires major social media platforms to prevent children under 16 from creating social media accounts. We appreciate the support of families in helping children develop safe and healthy digital habits that align with both legal expectations and the Christian values we seek to instil at the College. Together, we can help raise young people whose character, compassion and actions reflect the example of Jesus.
Throughout the first half of Term 2, many of our students have continued to demonstrate the values reflected in our ROAR framework—Respect, Obedience, Acceptance and Resilience. Our ROAR Awards recognise students who consistently display these qualities through their attitudes, actions and interactions with others both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud of the positive contribution these students make to our Junior School community and congratulate the following award recipients for their outstanding example and leadership.

A gentle reminder to families that student supervision at school begins from 8.10 am each morning. Students should not arrive on campus prior to this time unless they are booked into the Oxley Kids’ Before School Care program. We greatly appreciate the support of parents in helping us ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students before the commencement of the school day.
We recognise that mornings can be rushed, and students may occasionally forget important items such as lunchboxes, homework, or other belongings. To help maintain a safe and orderly environment across our Junior School, parents and family members are asked not to enter classroom buildings during the school day. Any items that need to be dropped off for students should instead be left at the Student Reception in the teardrop carpark. Administration staff will then notify the classroom teacher and arrange for the items to be collected by the respective student.
It is wonderful to see many families enjoying the Junior School playgrounds together after school. We kindly remind families that the Year 5/6 playground remains closed both before and after school, as indicated by the signage displayed in the area. We also ask that families please make use of the bins provided for any rubbish from afternoon snacks and drinks to help keep our grounds clean and welcoming for everyone. Thank you for your partnership and support in helping with these few matters.
Dates to Remember
We would like to take the opportunity to remind you that all Junior School students will not be expected at school on the following days:
- Report Writing Day – Friday 5 June
- King's Birthday Holiday – Monday 8 June
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. Romans 15:5-7
