A Message from the
Acting Principal
Mr Steven Belcastro
Lord Jesus,
You have conquered the grave and risen in glory!
As You ascend to Your throne in Heaven,
fill our hearts with the joy of Your eternal victory.
Guide us by Your Spirit until we meet You
face to face in Your kingdom.
Amen.
The Ascension of the Lord is a major Christian feast celebrating Jesus’ bodily return to Heaven 40 days after his Resurrection, signifying the end of his earthly ministry and his enthronement at the right hand of God. It is commemorated by a feast day, usually Thursday in the Sixth Week of Easter (today!). It’s also one of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
God is a mystery; the Ascension is a mystery—but they are mysteries that should be reflected on by prayer.
Our Mothers' Day celebration on Monday morning was a beautiful faith and community experience. Our Parents and Friends parents set up a beautiful breakfast and our Year 3 students led a wonderful prayer service. It was a lovely community gathering and the Stage 3 students distributed gifts to the Mothers. We thank God for the generous parents who gave their time and efforts to ensure our famous St Martha's hospitality was on display.
It is that time of year again when we gather data about how we are doing as a thriving Catholic community and your perception of our work. Very soon you will receive a link. I look forward to seeing record numbers of responses from parents. Responses will also be gathered from teachers and students from Years 4-6.
Next week we will farewell Mrs Samia as she starts her maternity leave. We wish her all the best for the arrival of her baby. Mr Stephen Murray will be teaching Year 2 Gold for the remainder of the year. Mr Murray brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the role. We welcome him to the St Martha's community. We are grateful for the work of both teachers in providing a smooth transition for our students.
