A Message from the Acting Assistant Principal

Mrs Chelsea McKeown

Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod

We are immensely proud of our students who will be representing St Martha's at the annual Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod over the next two weeks. This is a fantastic chance for them to showcase their hard work and talent.

The groups performing are:

  • Primary Choir
  • Stage 3 Concert Band
  • Extension Band
  • Extension String Ensemble

These groups have been dedicatedly practising their pieces with their teachers. We wish them all the very best! Parents will be able to enjoy their performance at our upcoming Amadeus Showcase later on in the year.

Kindergatern Enrolments for 2027

We have been busy with Kindergarten enrolments for 2027. Mr Belcastro, Mrs Ronzini, and I have enjoyed meeting new families or speaking with current families who have another child joining the St Martha's community.

One of the most pleasing responses received from current parents during interviews is when they are asked, "What are some things that you like at St Martha’s?” Overwhelmingly, parents highlight that St Martha’s is a welcoming, friendly and positive school community, where both teachers and parents show genuine warmth and care for all families at the school. Thank you for your continued support in fostering this environment.

If you know anyone who is planning to send their child to St Martha's in 2027, please let them know that applications should be in by now. Letters of offer will be sent in a short time and we have a high number of applications.

What did you learn at school today?

We know parents are keen to hear about their child's school day, but sometimes a simple "What did you do?" results in a one-word answer.

To help encourage a more detailed conversation about their learning, try asking these questions at home:

  • What new things did you learn today?
  • What did you do when you found something challenging?
  • How can you build on your learning next time?
  • What is something you achieved today that you are most proud of?

Walk Safely to School Day

Next Friday 22nd May is Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to find out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.

You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking by following one suggestion below;

  • Walk to School: Walk with the students the whole way to school
  • Catch the Bus: If you get the bus, walk past your usual stop and get on the next stop
  • Park and Walk: If you drive to school, park the car a few blocks away from school and walk the rest of the way.
  • Educate: Teach your ch to stop, look, listen and think before crossing
