Dear Parents,
There is lots happening at the school at the moment, please familiarise yourself with the information in the newsletter.
What an incredible Musical!
Wow, what an amazing couple of nights we have had.
Our students were absolutely incredible and they brought so much energy, joy and fun to the stage.
Thank you all so much for your support, especially for getting your children to and from rehearsals and performances. I know we had some very tired students by the end. As I watched the production, the props, costumes, staging, and quality of acting, I had to remind myself that this is a small primary school, not a professional theatre company. Seeing all of the children on stage at the end singing the finale made me quite emotional, and how blessed we are that our kids get great opportunities like this.
A special shout-out to our 30 strong cast, who have spent the last four months faithfully learning lines, attending rehearsals and working together as an outstanding team. I am so proud of each and every one of them.
We don’t do a musical just to have a fun night and shine some lights. What stood out most was seeing all of our students given the opportunity to participate. For our students this was a chance to step into something new, build confidence, discover gifts and experience the joy of performing as part of a team. That is something truly valuable. One of the things about our musical is that everyone participates and it was great seeing everyone on stage!
There are so many people to thank. Over 30 parents generously gave their time to help make this production possible. While I will not name everyone individually, please know how deeply grateful we are for your contribution. From photography, to food stalls, to painting, building sets, setting up the lighting and assisting with cleaning up, we are so thankful.
Our staff were also remarkable. You would have seen them ushering, managing props, supporting students, and doing whatever was needed behind the scenes. It is easy to take this level of professionalism for granted, but it is anything but ordinary. It reflects a team of people who serve with dedication and care.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Burgess for coordinating costumes, Mrs Auckett for the incredible prop work and of course Mrs Davila and Mrs Britton for directing the show so wonderfully.
It truly was an outstanding production.
Our 3-6 coordinator, Miss Thomas has also put some thoughts below, which are worth a read.
Cross Country
Our Cross Country for Years 2-6 is this Tuesday. You would have received some correspondence about this.
Years 2 to 6 will participate and will run around the school for 2km or 3km.
The event will begin around 11:30am with younger students first and conclude around 1:20pm with older students finishing.
Parents are very welcome to attend. Please sign in at the school office on arrival.
Staffing Announcements
Mrs Gounder, our Year 2 Blue teacher, has now commenced maternity leave as she prepares to welcome her baby. We pray for God’s blessing over her and her family, and look forward to welcoming her back in 2027.
Mrs Silva has made the decision to step down from her role as a teacher’s aide and the coming week will be her last one, she lives out in the Hills area and can no longer manage the travel. She has been a wonderful blessing to our community over the past 18 months and will be greatly missed. We are currently seeking someone to continue supporting our Portuguese students and families.
Mrs Andrea Godoy will be stepping into the role of Head of ELC, taking over from
Mrs Brenda Jones who we celebrated at the Easter Chapel as you may remember.
Andrea has substantial experience in preschools, has been a parent here at HPCS for a number of years and has a great heart for our community. We are very fortunate to have someone with Andrea’s experience and heart for the school in this position and look forward to the continuing growth and flourishing of the ELC under Andrea’s leadership.
Mother's Day
This Friday we will be hosting our first Mother’s Day Breakfast. The event and rsvp link are on the following page. Please note that parents are responsible for their children. This will be a relaxed opportunity to enjoy some time together, followed by a Mother’s Day Chapel celebration.
We also recognise that this day can be difficult for some students. If your child may need additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
Congratulations
A huge congratulations to Aurora Francis for being selected in the CSSA girls soccer team this week. That is a phenomenal effort. We are so proud of you Aurora, congratulations!
Thanks again for a fantastic week. Events like the musical really highlight what makes this community special.
My door is always open.
Mr Joe Britton
(Principal)
Miss Thomas (Year 6 Teacher, 3 - 6 Coordinator)
By the time you are reading this we would have finished our 2026 musical ‘Spring Chicken’.
'Spring Chicken the Musical' is about a feisty singing chicky called Chickalita. She is desperate to get out of her small farm and off to the big city, to do what she’s always dreamed of – singing! We follow her as she faces the singing-hating collies and the riff-raff of Scallywag Alley, and even as she tries to cross the road in the big city to get her one shot at her dream!
Our students have worked extremely hard and shown great courage and reflected a spirit of excellence in their rehearsals. Our hope and prayers are that if you have had the opportunity to come and see the musical that it has brought you joy, and I am certain, a sense of pride seeing your child/children participating.
What you may not know is just how much hard work has been put in behind the scenes. On behalf of our team at HPCS, we wanted to thank and recognise all the incredible staff members, as well as some of our wonderful parents for their contribution. We thank them for their willingness to help, their effort and care. We could not have done it without your servant hearted support.
We are so grateful for our community. We give God all the praise, all the honour and all the glory!
