Principal's Post

Dear Families,
ANZAC Day is such a significant day in our country's history and one that is certainly not lost on our St James community. Last Friday our Year Six students led a very reverent prayer celebration commemorating ANZAC Day in our quadrangle as we all gathered around the flagpoles.
On Saturday morning we had a number of students attend the Memorial Dawn Service at Halliday Park in Mitcham where students laid a wreath and read a prayer in front of the large crowd who gathered on a lovely morning, weatherwise.
Next week we are taking ten of our Year Six Leaders to the Shrine of Remembrance to participate in a memorial service facilitated by Legacy Australia.
School Review
Stephen Russell, our assigned independent reviewer will be here on Tuesday and Thursday to meet with all staff and a representation of students and parents. In a few weeks time we will receive feedback and a report from Stephen indicating his perceptions of our strengths and recommendations for future direction in school improvement at St James.

First Eucharist
Our Year 4s are preparing for their First Eucharist celebration - an important milestone in their faith journey. On Friday they all participated in "Bread Making Day." This provided an opportunity to reflect on the significance of the Sacrament and the importance of strengthening their relationship with Jesus. Part of the day involved Father Dispin speaking to the students and of course another important aspect was the bread making itself!
