Religious Education

This week, we want to shine a light on some very special people who help others in our community: St Vincent de Paul, often called "Vinnies"!
You might have seen Vinnies shops around, or perhaps heard people talk about them. Vinnies is a group of kind volunteers who believe in helping people who are having a tough time. They help families who might not have enough food, or clothes, or a safe place to live. They offer a helping hand and a friendly smile to make a real difference in people's lives right here in Sunbury and all over Australia.
They do this by:
- Providing food: Sometimes families need help putting food on the table, and Vinnies can provide groceries to make sure everyone has enough to eat.
- Offering a listening ear: Sometimes people just need someone to talk to and Vinnies volunteers are there to listen without judgment.
- Helping with bills: If families are struggling to pay their electricity or water bills, Vinnies can sometimes offer support.
- Supplying clothes and furniture: Through their Vinnies shops, they provide affordable clothes, furniture, and household items, and sometimes give them to people in need for free.
Winter Warmers Appeal: Let's Help Keep Everyone Cosy!
Winter is just around the corner, and it can get very cold, especially at night! Imagine not having a warm jacket or a cosy blanket to snuggle under. Sadly, for some people in our community, this is a reality.
That's why St Vincent de Paul is running their Winter Warmers Appeal! They are asking for our help to collect warm items to give to those who need them most.
How can we help?
From now until Friday 27th June we will be collecting:
- New or gently used warm blankets
- New or gently used winter coats and jackets (for all ages)
- New warm jumpers and hoodies
- New beanies, scarves, and gloves
- New warm socks
Every little bit helps to bring warmth and comfort to someone this winter.
Let's continue to show our Vinnies spirit and help make a real difference in our community! Thank you for your ongoing kindness and generosity.
