Year 7 Netball

Following on from our recent video of the Year 7 Black Ranges Netball Carnival, we’re pleased to share some wonderful photos and a match report!

It was a very cold and frosty start to the morning for the Year 7 Netball squad on Tuesday 27 May. Ahead of the day, students had several training sessions under the guidance of Year 11 students Isabella M and Jordain L, and we thank them for their time in preparing our team. We had a number of students playing for the very first time, and they did an amazing job learning rules and positions, along with set plays. Year 9 student Skyla M supported the team on the day, umpiring and coaching.

Halle A was an asset throughout the centre, driving the ball down the court. Ashling B was a fantastic shooter and was supported by Bethany L, who was a lovely shot. Stella S ran her heart out all day in GD, providing support down the court. Laura B, who was originally tagged as a shooter, found her position in GK and collected lots of intercepts and rebounds, pivotal in a number of our games. Harper K,  Zeeahra B, Charlotte B, Sarah F, and Jody B were our mid-court players, learning and gaining new skills with every game. It was fantastic to watch their growth over the day. Sophie M was our player who played across all positions and did an excellent job.

Intermediate and Junior Football

Our Intermediate Boys team recently played at the Black Ranges Carnival, playing four hard-fought matches. Well done to the students who represented our College with pride, showed great sportsmanship and gave their best effort throughout the day.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL

We had seventeen Year 7 and 8 students represent our College at the Black Ranges Carnival, held at Horsham City Oval last week.

The team opened the day in cold conditions and showed strong form in a competitive match. After a break between games, they bounced back with energy and teamwork, and secured a confident win in their second match. Their final game was a great all-round effort, with smart ball movement, strong defence, and great sportsmanship. Our students are to be commended for the kindness they showed to a student from Stawell Secondary College, who filled in to complete our side.

The team did an outstanding job, finishing the day with two wins while consistently demonstrating strong College values, and contributing positively both on and off the field to help the day run smoothly.

Intermediate Netball

On Friday 30 May, our Intermediate Girls Netball teams travelled to North Park, Stawell, to compete in the Black Ranges Carnival. The “Yellow” team, secured three wins and experienced two narrow losses, demonstrating commendable skill and teamwork. The “Green” team, while not victorious, played exceptionally well and gained valuable experience, learning new skills throughout the day. We extend our thanks to staff member, Colby McDonald, for her support, coaching and encouragement on the day.
