Learning and Teaching

Harmony Week
Next week, we celebrate Harmony Week, a special time for our St Brigid’s community to embrace the diversity, culture, and unique strengths of every student.
We will mark this special week on Friday, March 20. We encourage students to come to school wearing a touch of orange. During the day, students will work in their family groups to complete a shared activity and enjoy lunch together.
To further enhance our celebrations during Harmony Week we have organised Asanti Dance Theatre to come on Thursday 26th March to facilitate an authentic African drumming and dancing experience for our students.
Let’s come together to celebrate what makes our community so vibrant and unique!
NAPLAN
Over the next fortnight our Year 3 and Year 5 students will complete their NAPLAN assessments. We are incredibly proud of the way they approach these assessments and know they will do their best.
It is important to remember that NAPLAN does not measure every aspect of what makes our children wonderful learners.
All tests are completed using the school’s Chromebooks, except for Year 3 Writing, which is handwritten.
The testing schedule is:
Writing – Wednesday 11 March (There was a national server interruption during this test, but our students handled it brilliantly and completed the writing component later in the afternoon.)
Reading and Language Conventions – Thursday 12 March
Numeracy – Friday 13 March
Any students absent during any of the above sessions will have the opportunity to complete the assessments next week.
Results will be released mid-year and families will receive an individual report outlining their child’s achievement.
With thanks
Cassie Dirckze (Maths and Science Leader) and Suzie Ripp (Literacy and Humanities Leader)
