Remembrance Day

Every year at 11am on the 11th of November, we pause to remember those who have served their country in the Australian Defence forces. We acknowledge their courage and sacrifice and take time to reflect on the importance of maintaining the peace that they fought so hard to achieve.

Teachers at DPWPS will still be discussing the significance of Remembrance Day with their students in the days leading up to this important date on the Australian calendar.

A commemorative assembly will be held at our school on Tuesday 11th November, starting at 10.50am.

A wreath will be placed at the base of the flag on behalf of the school community and a minute of silence will be held at 11am. Parents, Grandparents and visitors are most welcome to attend. Please sign in at the office.

Poppies are well known as the traditional flower of remembrance.

Our school has been provided with a small number of poppy-related items for students

to purchase, including:

                                  -  $2.00 fabric poppy flowers (currently marked-down to $1.00)

                                  -  $3.00 black & red wrist bracelets

These items can be purchased at the Office (before or after school) - until sold-out.

All money raised from the sale of Remembrance Day merchandise, will be returned to the R.S.L. a support organisation for men and women who have served in the Australian Defence Force.

Important information for Foundation Families

Dear Foundation Families,

Now that Term 4 has begun, we’re making a small but meaningful change to support both comfort and independence for our students.

Starting from Thursday 23rd October, the before and after school line-up area will move to the same location used after recess and lunch. This adjustment helps us avoid the muddy conditions near the bike racks and creates a consistent routine for the children.

This change is a valuable opportunity to build independence as students prepare for Year 1. We ask families to support this by encouraging children to carry their own school bag into the classroom each morning.

To help students settle quickly, please drop them off at the gate and avoid staying in the line-up area. Families are also asked to remind any older siblings who collect Foundation students about the new pick-up location to ensure a smooth and safe end to the day.
