Learning Diversity

Vision for Engagement -our over arching expectations and engagement practices Part 3 of 6.

Focussing on Attendance

School attendance is crucial because each day missed by a student means valuable learning time is lost. MACS schools design strategies to engage students in learning, address personal and external barriers and maintain high expectations with clear supportive pathways for families facing challenges in ensuring their children attend school.

At St Bede's we offer a Multi Tiered System of Support to manage school attendance.

Tier 1 practices are for all students and may include strategies such as: building family-teacher relationships, having a shared expectation of attendance and responding quickly and efficiently to unexplained absences.

Tier 2 practices quickly identify and support students at risk of attendance problems. Strategies include collecting data and identifying key barriers to attendance and  supporting students with anxiety or school reluctance using the experience of our wellbeing staff and wellbeing space.

Tier 3 practices are more resource intensive and are implemented for students experiencing significant problems with school attendance. Strategies include attendance support plans and case management on a one to one basis
