Why Performing Arts Matters

Welcome to another exciting semester of Performing Arts!

During Semester 1, I had the pleasure of working with our Prep, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6 students as they explored a range of Drama, Dance and Music experiences. This semester, I am excited to begin working with our Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5 students as they embark on their own Performing Arts journey.

Performing Arts is much more than singing, dancing and acting, it is an opportunity for every child to develop confidence, creativity and communication skills while having fun.

Through the three Performing Arts disciplines of Drama, Dance and Music, students learn to express ideas, solve problems creatively, collaborate with others and appreciate different perspectives.

Throughout Performing Arts, students explore:

Drama:Students use their body, face and voice to create characters, tell stories, express emotions and collaborate with others.

Dance:Students communicate ideas and emotions through movement while exploring space, levels, relationships and simple choreography, developing coordination, creativity and confidence.

Music:Students explore beat, rhythm, mood and emotion, discovering how music can influence movement, shape storytelling and create atmosphere through dance and drama.

In Performing Arts, every child is encouraged to participate, have a go and celebrate their own progress. Our classroom is a safe, supportive and inclusive space where students are empowered to take creative risks, work together and discover new ways to express themselves.

I look forward to sharing the learning, creativity and achievements of our Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5 students throughout the semester as they continue to grow in confidence, creativity and self-expression.
