Principal Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
The end of the Semester! I hope it ends with an Australia win to cheer on in assembly. Whatever the result, we are incredibly proud of the Socceroos' efforts; we are even more proud of the students and their efforts this Semester.
By now you will have recieved their reports and had a chance to overlook them. The reports only tell part of the story. The best part of the story is the way the students grow and mature each day. The preps have been so well, as have all of our other grades. It will not be long before we wave goodbye to the grade 6 cohort and welcome a new batch of prep children into our community.
That is a great segway to remind families who may have a sibling for 2027 to make us aware and to complete the reuired work on the enrolment portal.
If you do have any queries regarding reports, please make a time to speak to your teacher.
Staffing News
Mrs. Murcott will remain at Lilydale PS for Term 3. We wish her all the best with the important work she is doing for that community. These last 6 months, Mr. Younes has been supporting the school as the Acting Assistant Principal. He has covered a lot of ground and supported our students who need the most attention to thrive at school. I would like to share our gratitude for his time and effort in this role.
Looking ahead to Term 3, it will be Mr. D Smith who will be stepping into the Acting Assistant Principal role. I would like to congratulate Mr. Smith and wish him all the best in his new role. Mrs. Wilson will continue with 34S for the remainder of the year.
Grade 34 Camp
Thank you to the staff and parents who volunteered recently at the grade 34 Camp. The children had the best time.
School Disco & Play Equipment
I would also like to thank the parents who volunteered for th school disco. I can confirm today we placed an order for the new play equipment. We still have a way to go with our fund rasiing efforts, however we are all keen to add some new P-2 friendlt play equipment into the school grounds.
Wellbeing news
It has been a tough 6 months in the wellbeing space in relation to our support structures. I am very pleased to share that we have some additional support in place for the remainder of the year.
Mrs. Hall will join us two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, as a student counsellor. Mrs. Hall is a qualified student counsellor who brings experience from working with children in other schools.
We have partnered with Uniting who have chosen us to base one of their support workers here on alternate Wednesdays. The support worker is called Alyssa Bayliff. Families have already started to sign up to sessions with her.
Please find flyers explaining their services:
We have also partnered with DS Psychology who are based in Ringwood. Kate Buchanon will join us every Tuesday from Term3, Week 3 and is available for 30 minute sessions and will be $55. Referrals will be through Mr. Smith and Mr. Younes. These will be directly registered with DS Psychology and payment made to them. Kate is able to see TAC and NDIS funded clients. From Term 4 session fees can be updated to Medicare funded provided the student is eligible. Students will need to have a diagnosable mental disorder to be eligible for Medicare sessions.
And finally have an enjoyable Winter break. I would say keep warm, however it is so mild at the moment. Keep an eye on Compass for swimming information, we are straight into swimming on the first day back!
Thanks,
Craig
