Assistant Principal's Report

It was wonderful to see everyone return to school last week full of excitement for Semester 2.
Parent/Carer Connection Session
Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s session presented by Jade from the Happy Mango on Raising Resilient Children. We hope everyone was able to take away practical strategies to support their children’s wellbeing, emotional development and resilience.
Thank you again to Jade (mum of Willow in Year 1) for giving up her time to support our community.
New Inclusion Coordinator
We are delighted to welcome Wendi as our new Inclusion Coordinator. Wendi has hit the ground running and has already brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the role.
If you see Wendi around the school, please take a moment to introduce yourself and say hello. We know she will be a fantastic addition to our wellbeing team, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have in supporting our students, staff and families.
Attitudes to School Survey 2026
During Term 2, students in Years 4 to 6 participated in the annual Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS). This survey provides valuable student voice data that helps us monitor trends over time, evaluate the impact of our improvement strategies and inform future planning.
One example of how we have responded to previous survey feedback is the introduction of the Stand Up Project in Year 5, which commenced successfully this year in response to identified student needs.
The survey also provides important evidence to monitor progress against our 2025–2029 School Strategic Plan (SSP). Our current targets and results are outlined below:
| Strategic Measure | 2025 Baseline | SSP Target | 2026 Result |
| Emotional awareness and regulation | 81% | 85% | 79% |
| Help seeking | 70% | 75% | 65% |
| Advocate at school | 93% | Maintain 93% | 91% |
While we have not yet reached the ambitious targets outlined in our Strategic Plan, these results should be viewed within the broader context of our school's consistently high levels of student endorsement. When these targets were established, we recognised that sustaining our exceptional results would be challenging in itself. We also have a further three years of our Strategic Plan to continue this important work.
It is worth celebrating that Elsternwick Primary School has been the highest-performing school in the Beachside Network on the Attitudes to School Survey for two consecutive years. Our results continue to compare very favourably with similar schools, our network and the Victorian Government school sector.
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year and will take place in the coming weeks. The NCCD is a collection that counts:
- the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability
the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.
Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. This ‘help’ allows them to access education on the same basis as a child without disability. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. Schools provide this information to education authorities.
