Hockey 7’s
The annual Hockey 7’s event was played at Pedrina Park on Friday 31st July with Gray Street sending along two teams, with Mrs McCulloch coordinating our involvement.
Our students had a fantastic day competing in the Hockey 7’s, taking on teams from other schools across the local area.
The teams played four exciting games, showing great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Both teams should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school. Everyone had a fantastic time, and it was wonderful to see the students encouraging and supporting one another throughout the competition.
Well done to our Hockey 7’s team on a fantastic effort! 🏑👏
Netball Victoria Schools’ Championships
On Wednesday 19th August we sent a team of 10 players to the regional qualifying event for the Netball Victoria School’s Championships, held at Pedrina Park in Hamilton. Our team played an exceptional standard of netball all day, winning all six games by strong margins. They have now earned the right to play in the State Championships, that are being held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne this coming Wednesday, 2nd September. A great day was had by all and even though the team was extremely successful, the highlight was the whole team playing extremely well and supporting one another, with even game time given to all. Wishing our team, and coach Mrs Stacey Stewart, all the very best at the State Championships.
Hamilton District Sports Association (HDSA) AFL 9’s
Last Friday we sent two boys and a girls’ team to the local AFL 9’s football competition, also held at Pedrina Park. After a fair bit of rain over the previous three days, the oval was rather wet and muddy however this didn’t detract from the spirit of our students. We had a range of abilities, from non-footballers to quite a few who play regularly but with the focus of the day being to have fun (and not on winning as we don’t keep scores) it was a delight to take this group of Year 5 and 6 students away for the day. The support of one another was outstanding and all students are to be commended for their efforts. Thanks also to our coaches Miss Thomas and Mr Alexander (pre-service teachers) along with Mrs Stewart, and thanks also to Mrs Brabham for her coordination of the group.
