Principal's Message

Dear Holy Family Parents,

Kinder–Year 6 Athletics Carnival – Weather Update and Important Information

Our Kinder to Year 6 Athletics Carnival is planned for Monday 11 May at Bannockburn Oval, Pymble. At this stage, the weather forecast is predicting a 55% chance of rain for Monday. Due to the requirement for the bus company to receive 24 hours’ notice for any cancellation, an early decision may be necessary. The total cost of bus transport for the day is approximately $3,700, which means wet weather considerations must be taken seriously.

If it becomes necessary to postpone the carnival due to weather conditions, a Compass message will be sent on Sunday morning confirming arrangements. Families are asked to please check Compass regularly for updates.

Should we need to postpone, the back-up dates are:

  • Thursday 14 May or
  • Wednesday 17 June

Thank you for your understanding and support. We remain hopeful that the weather will allow us to proceed as planned and look forward to an enjoyable day for all students.

Mother’s Day

As we approach Mother’s Day on Sunday, we are invited to pause, reflect, and give thanks for the remarkable women and special people who have shaped our lives with love, care, and strength. Mother’s Day is an opportunity to honour mothers, grandmothers, and all maternal figures whose quiet dedication and nurturing presence leave a lasting impact on our families and our world.

For many, this day is one of joy and celebration, a chance to express deep appreciation for the support, guidance, and unconditional love. At the same time, Mother’s Day can also be a moment of reflection and remembrance. We hold close the memories of mothers and maternal figures who are no longer with us, remembering their warmth, wisdom, and the love they gave so freely.

We extend our sincere gratitude and love to all mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures - past, present, and future. May this Mother’s Day be filled with joy, appreciation, and the comfort of cherished memories.

In the Catholic tradition, the month of May holds special significance as it is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Throughout this month, we honour her through prayer, devotion, and acts of love and service. Mary’s unwavering faith, humility, and unconditional love for her son serve as a powerful example for us all. Her trust in God’s plan reminds us of the importance of faith and compassion. May Mary's example guide us toward greater love, kindness, and peace within our community and beyond.

I wish all mothers and families a very Happy Mother’s Day.

Sincere thanks to the Year One parents for organising a very special and memorable Mother's Day morning at Holy Family. Many thanks to Father Colin, Mrs Stella, Mrs McNally, Boris, the readers and musicians for the beautiful Mother's Day mass. Thank you to Mrs Abood for the wonderful photos.

Let us Pray:

God bless all mothers, grandmothers and those who are like mothers to us.

She carried you in her arms when you were a child.

She held your hand as you learned to walk.

She holds your hand when times are tough. She wipes away your tears,

eases your fears, takes pride in your achievements

and loves you unconditionally.

Amen.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

This week's Behaviour Spotlight: Lining up quietly in the corridors and using the stairs safely

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is central to our school’s strategic focus on student wellbeing, engagement and positive learning environments. Guided by our school expectations — Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe Learners.

Being Safe, Kind and Respectful - Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month – May

May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, a time for our school community to promote respectful relationships, safety, dignity, and care for one another.

Everyone has the right to:

• Feel safe

• Be treated kindly

• Be listened to

• Ask for help

At school, we talk about respectful relationships, which means:

• Using kind words

• Respecting other people’s feelings

• Saying “stop” if something doesn’t feel right

• Getting help from a trusted adult

 Who can help at school?

If a student ever feels worried, upset, or unsafe, they can talk to:

• Their teacher

• The school counsellor

• A wellbeing or pastoral care staff member

• Another trusted adult at school

It’s always okay to ask for help.

We encourage families to continue conversations at home about:

• Kind behaviour

• Safe choices

• The importance of asking for help

If families would like support or information, free and confidential help is available from 1800RESPECT.
