LIBRARY NEWS
Afternoon parents and carers,
On Wednesday 27 May at 12pm, APS students and lovers of books across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo at the same time. National Simultaneous Storytime celebrates to joy of reading, storytelling and connection. The story of Luna Roo follows the spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback. Luna Roo was chosen this year because it captures the spirit of rising to a challenge with determination and heart. It is a story that celebrates courage, self-belief, and pushing through when things get tough.
Students are invited and encouraged to wear something sporty on the 27th May to celebrate this day. Perhaps a favourite footy scarf, soccer shirt or even an APS uniform that gets worn during PE. No wild dress-ups to plan or think about, just marking the occasion for those that love to get their Sporty-Spice on.
We have many copies of Luna Roo in the library ready to be borrowed and enjoyed.
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge at APS is off to a flying start! All students participating are sharing their reviews on the books and logging each book read.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers. Students all should have their login credentials to access the student portal.
More information can be found here- https://www.vic.gov.au/school-student-and-parents-taking-part-premiers-reading-challenge
The challenge relies on parents and students to enter the books onto the portal, this will not be done by your classroom teacher. Books then get verified by Lizzy each day. A list of challenge books can be found on the website with our school library having many of these titles available.
Any questions, queries on the challenge or library books, my email is below. elizabeth.ferguson2@education.vic.gov.au
Happy Reading,
Lizzy
