Meet the Staff

Liliana Varvarigos – Business Manager
Hello, I am Liliana and I’m the Business Manager at APS.
I’m a proud mum of two children, Steven and Sofia, wife, and dog lover of our little Rosie.
When I’m not at work or keeping up with busy family life, you’ll usually find me by the beach, planning our next travel adventure, or enjoying quality time with friends and loved ones.
I love making the most of the little moments and being part of a connected, supportive community.
Emma Healy – Year 5 Teacher (part time) and Support
Hey, I’m Emma, and this year I’m working one day with 5JE and one day with 5LE and another day as a support for students across different groups. I’ve taught at APS since 2015, with some time off here and there to have my two daughters, Mia and Billie. I also attended this school as a child and have loved being part of the Alphington Community for many, many years.
I love spending time in nature—exploring it, learning about it, and doing what I can to help protect it. Bushwalking is a big favourite in our house and something we love doing together as a family. I also enjoy sports, crafts and travelling but most of all, I love spending time with my young kids.
Deborah Luciani - Year 6 Teacher
Hi APS Community,
I’m Deborah, and I’ll be teaching Year 6 in 2026. For those who have been around for a while, you’ll know that I have too!
Before joining APS, I worked across a range of fields including finance, entertainment and health. I came to teaching after the birth of my son, Tennyson, in 2000, and began my journey at APS in July 2005 as a specialist teacher.
Outside the classroom, I like to keep busy with DIY projects, complete with an extensive collection of power tools and a well-used tool belt. I enjoy gardening and love cooking, a passion inspired by my grandmother, who was an excellent cook. After recently renovating, we’ve moved into our new home and are thoroughly enjoying it.
Both of my parents were born in Trieste, in northern Italy, though they met here in Melbourne at a house party in Preston. I’m very proud of my Italian/Slovenian heritage and feel incredibly fortunate to speak five languages.
