WRV: Western Region Championships U18 & U14 Tournament
On Sunday 14 June 2026, Altona College ventured to Maribyrnong Sports Academy to participate in The Western Region Championships. Competing in this tournament were our U18 Boys Team (Year 9 students), U18 Girls Team (Year 9/10 students) and three U14 Mixed Teams (one Year 7 and two Year 8 student teams). All players demonstrated fantastic effort, teamwork and represented our school like upstanding students that they are. We could not be more proud.
Our Year 9/10 girls proved to be just as good as any of the Year 11/12 teams, falling short of medalling and placing third. The Year 9/10 boys were also up to the task, confirming that they could contend with 17 and 18 year olds, missing out on gold but earning silver medals.
Our U14 teams established themselves as one of the best in the tournament. Although this was the first ever tournament for our Year 7 Team, they showed growth in their skill and established good teamwork which will be a strong foundation for their Hobsons Bay Division Finals later this year. Our Year 8 B Team placed third only losing one match to Saltwater in the semi-finals. Finally, our Year 8 A Team were unbeatable on the day, deserving of the gold medals.

Well done to all our cross-country runners from Years 7-12. We are so amazed by your grit and determination running long distances.
Congratulations to Felix Marchant and Johan Van Dolderen who finished top 10 in their age bracket, earning their spots at the STATE Finals.
SSV: Western Metropolitan Region Finals Soccer Year 8 Girls
We won our final game 5-1! Unfortunately lost the other games by slim margins and ended 3rd overall for the day. Very good effort from the girls who faced majority sport schools.

Congratulations once again to both Felix Marchant (35th place) and Johan Van Dolderen (31st place) who proved to be the best Cross-Country runners in the state of Victoria.

We always faired well at table tennis tournaments. This was no exception.
Well done to our Year 11/12 Boys Team who placed third in this tournament.

The Mixed Netball Team played three games against Sacred Heart, Stella Maris and Altona Meadows P.S. Unfortunately, they only won 1 game and lost 2, but we were very thankful that we were in the finals!

The Girls Netball Team had an excellent day at our netball tournament. We won all three games and we’re moving on to hopefully winning at regionals!

SSV: Western Metropolitan Region Finals AFL Intermediate Boys
Amazing outing from our students from Years 7-10. They would win 2 out of 3 matches against teams from Hoppers Crossing, Al Taqwa and Gisborne. They would just miss out on heading into the next rounds, placing second in the pool.
SSV: Western Metropolitan Region Finals Netball Senior Girls
On Tuesday 28 July, the Altona College Senior Girls Netball Team proudly represented the school at the Western Metropolitan Finals, showcasing outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
The team began strongly against Maribyrnong Secondary College, maintaining consistent scoring across each quarter. In their second match, the girls delivered a composed and disciplined performance to secure a hard-fought 24–21 victory over Hoppers Crossing Secondary College. Their ability to capitalise on small wins across the court proved pivotal in achieving the result.
In the final game of the day, the team continued to demonstrate the positive culture that defines Altona College. With a refreshed starting seven taking the court, players embraced new challenges and stepped outside their comfort zones.
The result was an impressive team performance that highlighted the depth, resilience, and versatility of the squad.
Congratulations to all players for their efforts, teamwork, and commitment in representing Altona College with pride at the Western Metro Finals.
