Principal's Report

Simone Roy

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great break and prepared themselves for another busy term. Our Senior School Subject Expo and family information evening was held on Tuesday and change requests for Middle School classes have been finalised this week.

Staff Professional Learning Day

Staff returned to school on Monday this week, with a student free day, this day was used for regular training requirements for all staff, and teachers were introduced to updated procedures and had time to begin working with these.

A regular requirement is to review our knowledge and understanding of treating Anaphylaxis and Asthma and Child Safety. Teachers also prepared for Semester 2 by working on class learning profiles and began considering and documenting learning adjustments for their new classes.

Child Safety

Just a regular reminder for our families about Child Safety; which is where we take the safety of all children seriously. Please remember when you visit our school that not all students or staff might know you. As such, we ask all visitors to go straight to the office, via the front doors wherever possible. If you need to leave something for your child please deliver it to the office, or if you need to see them, a member of staff will collect them for you.

Snow Program

Next week will see the beginning of our Downhill Snowsports program for 2026. Thanks to Vicky Levesque, who has been working hard to ensure that everything is in place for this program, including managing staff and family volunteers.

While this program affects our Year 7-10 students, with about 60 students participating, I want to impress upon families that for those students not participating in the Downhill Snowsports program, there is a meaningful program of learning happening back here at school.

Teachers have spent time this week preparing for classes that are affected on Snow Program days, to ensure that the students have a meaningful, engaging program to continue with, that is separate to their normal program of learning. This is a specially designed program of learning for the students that are learning at school on Snowsports days.

If your child tries to convince you that there will not be anything for them to do at school on Snowsports days, you can remind them that there is a special program that has been designed just for them to do.

Annual Report

2025 Annual Report to the School Community

At about this time every year, the school is expected to present the previous year’s Annual Report to the School Community; a Department required report that presents key pieces of data with commentary.

As mentioned in the School Council report in the last newsletter of Term 2, this year, the report will be presented to the school community on Wednesday 22nd July, at 6pm in the Library. Everyone is invited to attend this meeting. If you are unable to make it in person, but would still like to see the presentation, please email me directly for a Webex link so you can join online. The report is also published on our school website, or you can request a copy from the office.

NAPLAN Results

The NAPLAN results for Year 7 and 9 students have arrived in hard copy at the school. These reports will be sent home to families this week. An information brochure to help families understand what the report is saying will be attached to the Compass newsfeed.

Industrial Action

Planned Strike for Thursday 23rd July

AEU members may choose to stop work on Thursday 23rd July. School won’t have final confirmation of how many staff will be on site until Tuesday, but with current anticipated staff numbers, we don’t expect that we will be able to staff the whole school.

As such, we are asking that Year 11 and 12s work from home on Thursday, with school being open for Years 7 – 10 students. There will be a modified timetable for the day, but there will still be a program of learning for the students that attend.

This information will also be sent as a Compass email and newsfeed to families today, and any updates will be conveyed through the same channels, with final confirmation by Wednesday 2pm.

If you know that your child will not be attending school on Thursday, please call or email the Office. Absence on the day does not count towards the students’ absence data.
