Celebrating Outstanding Sporting Success

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the recent sporting achievements of three of our Year 5 students, who have represented both our school and Victoria with distinction across a range of high-level competitions.

Olivia L (5M) recently travelled to Sydney as a member of the Victorian State Rhythmic Gymnastics Team to compete at the Australian Gymnastics Championships. Competing in the Sub Junior division at her very first national championships, Olivia and her teammates won the bronze medal in the team event for Victoria.

Olivia also enjoyed remarkable individual success, finishing 5th All Around and, incredibly, as the highest-placed Victorian gymnast in her division. 

To top off an outstanding competition, Olivia was presented with the Artistry Award, recognising the gymnast who demonstrated exceptional elegance, creativity and performance quality. 

It is a wonderful achievement and a testament to the countless hours of dedication she has invested in her sport.

Another of our talented gymnasts, Rita L (5A), has an equally inspiring story to share.

After suffering a serious foot and ankle injury last year, there were genuine concerns that her rhythmic gymnastics journey may have come to an early end. 

Following months of rehabilitation, determination and hard work, Rita gradually returned to training, rebuilding her strength, confidence and skills.

Last week, Rita competed at the Marival Cup International Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in Sydney, taking on competitors from across Australia and around the world. 

Her perseverance was rewarded with an outstanding medal haul, winning two gold medals for her Hoop and Ribbon routines, along with a bronze medal for her Freehand routine. 

Rita's achievements are a wonderful reminder that resilience, patience and determination can help us overcome even the biggest setbacks.

Congratulations also to Kat C (5M), who recently represented St Kilda Park Primary School at the Victorian State Cross Country Championships. 

After earning qualification through the regional pathway, Kat competed against 92 of Victoria's best runners, finishing in a highly impressive 56th place. 

To reach the state championships is an outstanding achievement in itself, and Kat's performance on the day is something she should be enormously proud of.

We love celebrating the achievements of our students, both inside and outside the classroom. 

Whether on the sporting field, in the gymnasium, on the stage or pursuing other passions, it is wonderful to see our students striving for excellence, showing resilience and representing themselves, their families and our school community with such pride.
