Sport and PE at SJV
Hoop Time
Our students had a fantastic time representing SJV at Hoop Time, with the Grade 5/6 students competing on Friday, 24th July and the Grade 3/4 students taking to the court on Wednesday, 29th July.
We were incredibly impressed by the effort, sportsmanship, and outstanding behaviour shown by all of our students throughout the competition. It was wonderful to see everyone having a go, encouraging one another, and getting involved both on and off the court. We may even have had the loudest cheer squads at the stadiums!
Congratulations to our Grade 5/6 All Star Boys, who reached the semi-finals, and to our Grade 3/4 Future Star Girls and Future Star Boys, who both made it through to the Grand Final. A special congratulations goes to our Grade 3/4 Future Star Boys, who were crowned Grand Final champions and have qualified for the Regional Finals in Term 4.
A very big thank you also goes out to all our parent volunteers who came along the support and coach our students. Days like these would not happen without their help and we greatly appreciate them for giving up their time.
Well done to all of our students for representing SJV with such enthusiasm and pride. We wish our Future Star Boys the very best of luck at the Regional Finals—more details will be shared later this term.
MTC at SJV
We're excited to welcome Melbourne Taekwondo Centre Bayside back to SJV! Thanks to funding from the Australian Sports Commission's Sporting Schools program, we have once again been able to bring this fantastic opportunity to our students.
Over the next four weeks, students in Years 1–6 will participate in engaging Taekwondo sessions that focus on developing basic skills, coordination, fun games, and self-defence techniques. We look forward to seeing our students build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy this exciting program.
Run Club
On Fridays, all grade 3-6 students are invited to join the Run Club. We meet at Walter Galt Reserve 8:15 AM, and students will be escorted to school once finished. It's been wonderful to see so many students get involved.
